NEW mini Centipede arcade toys - Kickstarter

They had a chance to finally fix the controls and put the track ball on the left...and they blew it.

why would you do that? Most people are right handed and would want to use their dominant hand to control the trackball.

This is even better than the Walmart plasticades - got one for my desk at work.

Yeah, but its 5x the price of the wallmart ones. I think its too much at $90, but its pretty cool and when you compare it to what the coleco vintage ones sell for, its not out of line.

Like most games, I control the character's movement with my left hand and fire/jump/etc. with my right hand. For that reason, I play centipede cross-handed. I'm not the only one either.

Always baffled me why they designed it with the trackball on the right.

I would hate it if trackball was left but I am very right handed.

You must be generation d pad.. I think Nintendo screwed up generations of kids and the industry perpetuated it ever since.

When you use a mouse, do you use right or left hand?

They just announced hitting $100k now and Tempest is the second game.

A 12" version I think is something to reckon with as most are 6" and less.

This is neat...a novelty. I'm not sold on it, though. The video of playing the game completely turned me off of it.

Probably do a few Atari games since they're licensed with Atari.

Would LOVE to see a mini dedicated Major Havoc, Star Wars, Black Widow and I, Robot.

Likely other games following Tempest would be:

Asteroids (try recreating the Deluxe blacklight effect in a mass produced 1:6 scale!)
Dig Dug
Space Duel
Missile Command
Marble Madness

God, I hope they don't do Xevious.

Tempted. I would have to feel really good that the quality of the finished product is going to be awesome. That picture that shows the finger pushing the coin return does not make me feel good about that with the wrinkled CPO. Then the video further down with the guy who I assume is making these...well...speechless

Missile Command is like this too. Weird.

Most popular games that I can think of have the joystick on the right and buttons on the left. Some have the action button on both sides, but not all. Galaga, Defender, Joust, Donkey Kong, etc. all have the controls set up with the joystick on the left. I don't think it has anything do do with the Nintendo d-pad.

They posted an update last night including video of the pre-production cab.

Not bad at all for a first start.

They also issued an survey of which games one'd like to see come after Tempest. Some of the options were: Asteroids, Missile Command, Track n Field (!), Major Havoc (!!!), Gradius (??), Frogger, Space Invaders.

Guy looks like a WWF star. lol

Hope this pans out. Especially a 12" mini Major Havoc. But I think they will do some of the mainstream classics first, in which I'd pick Track n Field, and Frogger.

Would be neat to see mini Midways come in due time - Tron and Tapper
