Milwaukee Super Auction Nov 14 2009 "Whos Rollin?"

+1 on the suckiness

<10 classics
prices were really high ($800 for a mediocre 48 in 1?!?!?!)

Tron, Missle Command, Asteroids Deluxe and the pacman's all went for around $400. Even the dinged up cabaret pac.
I guess everyone was buying for their xmas presents.

Not much selection and no bargains to be had anywhere.

Yep

I say it also sucked, I left around 11:30 they were finishing the uprights almost by then

I just wanna know what the classic Whilitzer and Rock-ola 45 jukes went for? They were pretty sweet looking!

DISAPPOINTED! Man, half the selection, 10x the bowling, bidder/operator #105 buying all of his own stuff back, just sucky all around. I stayed until a little after noon and didn't buy a thing. I drove from Chicago and came back with nothing which is a first for me. Bummer. I thought about waiting around for the cherry's but decided I didn't want to force a project. My boys had a good time though, which makes it worth while I guess. Nice boys day out for us. Unfortunately, I'll have to think twice about going up for the next one (if there is one).

I love the disclaimer Michael Angelo Auctions always gives early on when they can't get someone to bid $1,000 on a shitty driver: "Look, I work for them--I'm here to make them money. If you're here for a $75 game, you probably came to the wrong place. We may have $100 stuff later, but we're not gonna give this stuff away." Cool, just don't expect the bidders to shell out heavy cash for these worn out games.

It was ehh...

Just got back from the long drive.Picked up a cheap project Great Sluggers by Namco.Cabinet beat to hell and back but it did have side art and cpo and bezel so how can I complain. The bottom has what Im thinking is water damage. Its kicked out a little bit I'll post some pictures.I would like to know what the cabinet used to be?I took lots of pictures and some video. The Rockola Jukes by the way each went for 1,500.I almost bit on a project wall juke for 75 but ehhh.. woulda had to make 2 trips Im glad I didnt.I think the multi 48-1 went went sorta high.the steal of the show I think was eh.. nuthin....maybe my second purchase a working megatouch for 35 dollars. It has not coin mech it has button set only for free play but hell thats fine with me its going ontop of the bar. Ok the Revolution X (Aerosmith)went for 225 I think that was a steal. It was working with good monitor but I remeber the guns having more recoil when I was younger. You could barely feel the recoil was that just me.The Dimahoo I shouldve scooped up at 100 I needed a vertical cab.Maybe next time....I'll stat working on the list on downloading the pics.TTYL,
Matt

Yes it was disappointing, but not all that bad. It did have A LOT of buybacks and a smaller than usual array of product. Only took home 1.

I gave up on the vids after the first 10 or so, Two guys 'buying' most of them. Superauctions really needs to address their buyback policy or people are going to stop coming. Most of the guys I talked with felt the same way, we all 'gave up'. The last 3 auctions have been particularly bad. Rather than call it an auction they should call it a sale, with all the buybacks you can't even call it an auction.

I did pick up a couple of jukes, the above mentioned people seemed uninterested in them!

The prices I'm looking for were the last two in the long line of jukes. Looking like they came out of the 50's?

The buyback is a crutch to bear.. I was told WI. has a a seller/bidder law? That the seller cannot bid on his own items? Any truth to that?

Ill try to get the video up soon........

I am getting the second half up now.It has prices on each video game with pics.

Dude... thanks so much for taking the time to do that... to video it and upload the video. The music was awesome, especially during the "sitdown driver" portion. Ha. Lots of machines there... makes me wish I had gone.

hmmm

raiden fighter jet 300?

Are you kidding me? $300!?! That's a steal for just the board!

I also would have paid 450 for an initial D. Naomi 2, Game, GD-ROM drive, and DIMM are worth more than that. This auction had some gems in it. Don't knock it..............

btw, hey animesuperj! Good to see you're still into this stuff too.

I was also thinking that this auction was pretty crappy. I've only been to 2 prior auctions, but it seemed like most of the games went for too much money.

I'm relatively new to the hobby. How does a buyback work, and how do I spot somebody who's buying back their stuff?

YouTube dont like me

Trying to get the second half up now.Youtube is once again giving me a hard time.

hey, doug! haven't heard from you in a while! How you doing? I've actually been into "this stuff" a bit more than ever lately. I've gotten my collection upto 4 cabs right now, hopefully more soon! I was actually thinking of making an offer on your neo-geo you had at acen last year, but there was NO way I could get that thing home from there.

Peter (don't know if you remember him) actually picked up the ID3. He has a double ID2, and is trying to upgrade them, so he's just switching over the board and will hopefully find another one. I was actually eyeing up the two Radien cabs, gunbird, and strickers. I think all of them needed a bit more work than I was looking to do right now. Plus it doesn't help I didn't have anything there to move them with. Would have had to drive to get the in-laws truck, lol.

Guys, not to be on the wrong side of the issue......but on the buybacks:

If SuperAuctions didn't allow buybacks, there would be no more auctions. They rely on ops to bring in the bulk of the equipment to justify the expense of an auction.

If they tell the ops that it will be an absolute auction and that their Crazy Taxi that they paid $3000 for two years ago might sell for $10 and there's nothing they can do about it, the ops will say no thanks.

Then there would just be a handful of people who would risk giving their stuff away, and they would only bring total worthless junk. Forget about pins ever being there. And without some high $ stuff which at least generates buy-back fees for them, Super auctions doesn't make enough to cover their expenses.

Believe me, I'm the last person to defend those crooked Super Auctions people. I'm not defending them. But the buybacks are a necessary evil I'm afraid, if you want there to be game auctions at all.

John
