I just picked up a very clean and original Millipede yesterday. Other than replacing the CPO I need to go through the trackball and get it rolling smooth. It works okay, just feels rough when I roll it. I know there are bearings, do they have to be replaced or can they be lubed? Is there a good replacement ball or should I just buy a whole new assembly? I'm not afraid to pull it apart and rebuild it and I'm VERY creative when it comes to things like this so if there's a chance I can get this thing working right again I want to do it.

**wow, I did a little more research and found some info but no pictures. If anyone has a link to a good tutorial with pics and the best source for parts I'd appreciate it!**

These are easily rebuilt, as long as the plastic housing isn't cracked.

There are two roller shafts (x/y) in the trackball assembly that usually rust/wear where they make contact with the ball... causing the "roughness" you are describing

Rebuild kit consists of 3 shafts and 6 bearings. These can be purchased from Bob Roberts or ArcadeShop... very common stuff.

I looked up the rebuild kit on Bob Roberts site and was going to purchase until I saw he doesn't take PayPal. I've searched other places and a few people list them but they don't come with the bearings. Will the Happ trackball kit work in my Atari trackball? They look the same but they say Happ only. If they'll work then I'll just grab a kit off eBay and be done with it.

I did a search on eBay and didn't find anyone selling the Atari kits, only the ones that say Happ only. I'll keep searching, I just want to pay with my PayPal card so its done and shipped. I hate going to get a money order, send it out and wait.

Three things:
1) Bob takes personal checks (I hate getting money orders too)
2) Once you have ordered from him, he usually cross-ships (meaning he ships your order BEFORE he gets the payment)
3) Most of the time he ships within a business day

I just looked on the Suzo Happ website, they list the rollers for their trackball and it says "Happ only" but when I looked up the Atari 3" trackball kit it has the same part number so I guess its the same.
