Can anyone give me some information as to how the marquee on the style of Atari games mentioned above works? I understand theres a full wrap overlay, but whats underneath? Glass? Plexi? Any specifics as to the material I would need to get to replace one of these?

Thanks!

here's a pic of one with no over lay. if you look close at the poorly outlined section in the first pic you can see there is a thin foam rubber piece like a weather stripping material. I'm not really sure if this goes on the top or bottom edge or if it really matters but it seems to be there to fill the gap left by the size of the glass. I'm pretty sure this is original as I can feel that small gap on all of my atari marquees of this style. As for the overlay being stapled, I believe they did use staples to help hold it in place but the overlay was definitely adhesive backed like the repros. BTW this is the worst marquee design ever IMO and a total PITA to replace.

Hmm, thats very interesting, maybe its to prevent the glass rattling around and getting cracked/damaged. It also looks like the glass doesn't fit flush with the front edge of the recess, or maybe I just wrongly interpreted the pic.

Anyway it seems I should just buy a piece of plain glass from a glass cutters and an overlay from arcadeshop?

The glass sits pretty close to flush with the wood frame. But yeah basically just a plain piece of glass and the overlay.
