I have a millipede board that just shows a full screen full of "D" with on of them in the corner blinking red. No sound as the machine that I am plugging it into seems to have developed a sound problem. I am using a millipede board in a centipede machine with an adapter from arcadeshop.

I have another millipede board that seems to work but once I go into play I can't see the spider(well it looks like the spider might be at the very top of the screen instead of the bottom but it is off screen). It has only a few mushrooms on screen.

I'm also trying to figure out which direction the two large chips(about the size of Z80's,pokeys?) should be in the socket. They were plugged in with the notch facing away from the edge connector. All the other chips in the board have the notches facing the edge connector.

No characters showing

I have put working pokeys in the mostly working board and now it shows all the backgound characters mushrooms and such but not the foreground characters like the spider, millipede, etc. No errors on self test other than the high score chip.

Any ideas what is going wrong here?

No ideas offhand, but I do know that bit slicer repairs those boards, I've actually got mine going out to him shortly, look him up around here.

That's a problem somewhere in the motion object circuit. I can fix it if you'd like.

Just to be sure, the 6502 processor should be oriented with the notch facing away from the nearby test edge connector, and the Pokeys should both be oriented with the notch facing away from the 6502. See page 46 of the user's manual.

The all-D's problem, have you checked all your voltages at the card? It could be that the 6502 isn't even able to pet the watchdog.
