Hi,

I've had an non-working millipede cabinet sitting in my basement for the better part of a couple of years. I finally decided to either get rid of it or fix it, which lead me here. I've been lurking and reading everything I could for the last couple of weeks. I've replaced the power supply, and just received a board from DaninDenver (thanks!), and now the game plays "blind".

The question I have is this - the harness was not connected to the monitor, so I guessed as to how to connect it. A couple of photos are attached as to my "guess". I have an extra item not plugged into anything, and I'm wondering if that's what's keeping me from seeing the game. I get the proper colors on the monitor, but it appears sort of scrambled. I tried messing with the vertical hold and the like to no avail. The manual for the game I found online doesn't detail how to connect to monitor....

Any ideas?

Try the "a" plug instead of the red one.

My Millipede also had two plug's on the monitor harness. One worked, one didn't. I believe they syncs are in different places on each plug.

Thanks for your help!

So, I tried both connectors to no avail. The numbers match on one of the connectors to the numbers on the monitor input, so I'm fairly certain that's correct. Still getting the scrambled picture. Adjusted the holds and that sort of thing. Any ideas on what to try from here?

Are monitors worth having worked on, or is it generally easier to replace the entire thing? (I have read extensively about discharging monitors and the safety issues involved with that). Any suggestions on brands or models that would be close to the original as possible if I were to swap out the monitor?

Thanks again!

Wontwa,
This is where it is really helpful to have a spare known working monitor. That way you can plug it in and determine if it is a monitor, harness or PCB problem.

It is tough to tell from the pic, but it could be a sync problem (wrong connector, broken wire, mis wired harness, monitor needs repair) or a hold problem ( mis-adjustment, bad pots, or other monitor repair).

You should put your location in your profile. Maybe there are other collectors in your area that could look at your game, or loan/ sell you a monitor.

Thanks for your help/advice. I'm planning on getting this looked at by the local game repair place, and eventually getting a spare monitor. I appreciate your input - particularly considering I'm new 'round these parts.
