Darren, it just comes apart like that,.... the original (and the repros) are one big marquee that wraps around the entire thing, you line up the holes with the holes in the wood where the screws mount.
Let me warn you too: You're in for a heap of shit. I did one of these two weeks ago, it took me about 4 hours. First, you have to peel the old marquee off which will chip up into a million little pieces. Then, it'll delaminate from the glass like yours has done. THEN, you've got thick ink glued onto the glass, so you have to scrape all that off with a razorblade or something. You can use a heatgun but it doesn't help much. Somebody else may have a different way of doing it, it was the worst one I've ever done.
So to answer your question, it's not art on the glass, and then everything's covered with laminate, you have to get the glass really clean, then put it in place, and stick the overlay on the glass and the wood at the same time.
