I picked up this millipede game in unknown condition, got it home, made sure all connections were on and fired it up. I could see the game come onto the screen, fired up a game and played. As it's playing the image on the screen starts to float to the right (the entire image). It started to look a bit wonky so I unplugged it until I could get back to it.
Fast forward to today. I go back to it & reseat connectors, plug it in, fire it up and poof ... magic smoke from R29 on ARII. ok, so there's a harness issue. Pull both the ARII and PCB inside, repair the resistor, put both into my millipede game (which works fine), power it up and the LED on the board comes on fine. At this point I swap in my ARII and use some wires with alligator clips to get +5 and GND to the test points on the PCB from the ARII. (just in case it's the fingerboard on the PCB.. dont wanna blow my ARII)
Fire it up, same thing. PCB led comes on, both start cone lights are on, but nothing on screen and no beeps. Same thing happens in test mode. I have 5vdc at the board (cause I'm jumpering it and the ground over there from the ARII) I've swapped in a processor and two pokeys, (one at a time) to no avail.
Any suggestions? Could this be a RAM issue?
Thanks in advance
Tom
EDIT: I have also reseated all socketed ICs
