This is huge for me. It's taken me over 4 years to finally get up enough willpower to tackle this bastard. I don't know why, but the thought of trying to restore this control panel had me shaking in my boots. I had the Cp powdercoated almost 2 years ago, which I thought would make it easy on me. I bought the overlay more than 2 years ago. I think I bought the stick halves 3 years ago from GGG. Anyhoo, thanks to Fizzy G I was able to finally figure out how to start putting all the controls back on this bastard. I took the parts list up to the hardware store and grabbed all the little screws, bolts and nuts I was missing. Most were missing because it had been so long and they were scattered to the 4 winds. The other reason was because so many of the little pieces were rusted and worthless. Well to make a long story short, I'm done:

Looks great, i put white buttons on mine and i like it with the black light effect.

What are the original buttons for the Tron CP? the one I just picked up are red, those look orange but I suppose the blacklight could be effing with it..

Solid red. *Yawn* I wanted to go with translucent buttons, to keep the same feel as the stick. The translucent red ones I had did nothing special, so i tried translucent orange ones. They reacted best with the black light, so I went with them. I'm gonna buy some blue ones from bob and see how those look, but I may just stick with the orange. I like the way they look.

HUMMM that sounds like a good idea..

BTW Phet.. That panel looks great.. I restored mine a few months ago and it really makes a difference..

I'm curious what you guys did with the 'holes/dents' in the control panel.
Did you fill them? leave them as-is?

almost every old overlay you see has dents in them where the bolts are mounted to the underside of the cp.

I filled mine. Actually I fill all of the cps with those style dimples. Just did a timber today.
