I am having a coin up issue. The game will start if I manually trip the relay in back, but I can't shoot any of the targets and I can't get it to coin up in front. Also, some of the target motors reset at start, some don't, some don't come out at all. If I manually hit start several times in a row, different things will happen. Tiger target sometimes moves, crocodile, Elephant, never at the same time and never consistently. Some get stuck, then the game just kinda clicks for a while. Where do I start? Do they make replacement solenoids and relays for these? How about the 10 A 50V fuse I blew? Will a modern 10A 250V slo blo work in it's place? What about the 9 pos molex hanging in the back, does it plug into anything? Me lost.

Can someone link me to a manual? I am out in the shop and would like to see this working before I faint from exhaustion and despair.

Its an electromechanical? if so, read this:

http://www.pinrepair.com/em/index.htm'

I read it top to bottom when I first got my Grand Prix 1976 pinball machine, followed pretty much all of it. I was just out at my parents house for the 4th of july and I played a bunch of games and everything is still working flawlessly, and it has been sitting for about a year unplayed. Just follow that guide, it is very informative for all EM games.

Thanks for the links. I wonder if my Stylus board is bad? I also have a resistor on the Tiger relay that gets so hot it nearly bursts into flames. I wish I could read schematics better.

I missed this pick up- did you post about it? I remember you looking for an EM game, but I must've missed the "I got one!" thread.

I would say you have nothing but bad capacitors and dirty contacts. I would replace any electrolytic caps in there along with disassembling and cleaning any stepper units (probably one for credits, and score) And looking at other commonly worn contacts.

EM games usually require a methodical systematic approach rather than trying to fix a specific problem.

I've been reading the marvin guide for my wild kingdom and I would have to agree with bjk7382. Follow the guide and do maintenance on everything suggested, replace caps, clean contacts, etc. Then cross your fingers and hope it works in the end :)

If you need to know where the loose connector goes, shoot me a pic of it and I'll compare it to mine. cnlmoore AT gmail DOT com

Phet take my advice and be careful with what you mess around with on it. I had a working Arctic Gun and when I got it home I thought I would clean contacts and this and that, and now the game does NOT work and I have fuses blowing, etc. Coincidence? I doubt it. I'm usually very careful but I must've screwed up something. Sad part is I'm having a tough time trying to diagnose it....

hiya phet, ive worked on only 5 em games but they all have one thing in common clean the contacts and NEVER spray anything into these games ie contact cleaner,wd40 etc. ive found worn wires fused together loose wires burned wires. contacts that should be open closed and vise versa all from just methodicly slowly cleaning the contacts dont try the fix and test method it will take twice as long. some of the rifle games tell you when something should be energized and at what point. take the time its worth it

Clean with what? Emery board, sand paper?

i use a wet/dry sand paper super fine grit. i use an emory board too. i also use a dust buster with a hose attachment for the 1/2" dust build up just go easy

If there are stepper units, and score motor, in that game and they aren't moving freely, the game will never work... you should take a look at that link I threw up there.
