Help guys !

I have a midway timber which was working fine a couple days ago, now has a weird problem

whether in attract mode or game, if you press the player1 right chop switch, the game makes a funny noise and resets. even with no credits it still does this, plays perfectly apart from that (as long as you dont try and chop any trees to the right! lol)

Could be a bad connection / short somewhere ? or a logic problem on the control inputs ?

very ocasionally when it resets it comes up with a ram error, but isnt any more specific than that, so im not convinced that its true...

Thanks,

have you run it through self test yet? Could be some good information there.

thanks for the quick response. i just tried that and it does exactly the same... as soon as i press the pl1 chop right, it resets..
if i do the input test the other controls work until of course i press this one, then reset !

:(

By any chance did you remove/reseat the wiring connector that goes to the controls? On TRON (another MCR game) if you mis-connect it by 1 pin, things go haywire.

thanks but unfortunately not. i positioned it in my gamesroom, played it for a few hours, turned it off, next day my friend came round to see it, switched it on, and hey ho here we are.

of course naturally i blamed him for breaking it lol......

ok ive changed the ls244 that the joystick connects to and it appears to have solved the problem :) all working ok now.... case closed !
