I finally found a dedicated NBA Jam TE cabinet that is currently functioning as an NFL Blitz 2000/NBA Showtime sportsstation. The NBA Showtime game works, but when you select to play NFL Blitz, the game reboots.

Anyone have experience with this issue that can suggest something before I dive in? I'm going to be restoring it to a TE so I just want the board solid to sell to recoup some of the conversion costs.

So i did all the tests and they all ran fine. In the options menu when I went to switch to blitz diagnostics, it just rebooted completely back to the attract screen.

Now I'm wondering if it's actually just a showtime 2000 gold board/harddrive? Did those come pre-loaded with the option of upgrading it to a blitz/showtime sportsstation? There is nothing on the board that says blitz, but it mentions blitz in the diagnostics and prompts you to switch between the games when you insert your coins.

I'm guessing that the hard drive only has NBA on it and no Blitz. My Sportstation was doing almost the same thing when it had a Blitz only hard drive in it.

I think the entirety of the game's software is on the hard drive. if you're seeing the in-game menu then I would gather it's a Sportstation hard drive.

unusual situation.

I also am skeptical as to how many Blitz 2000 Vegas boards were in circulation, I don't really know about that at all, or if the video cards have like the same BIOS or whatever.

which version are your roms? maybe you'll get lucky and have the same version hard drive as me, and I'll be able to CHDMAN it for you. if yours is the older revision like mine I would say go a step further and just talk to ToplessZ about upgrading and then you'll get a CF drive.
