anyone got one or know of a alternative ? , not bothered about it not being new just useable

many thanks

Isnt there a diode that goes between the flyback and the lead to the anode?

Yeah. There is supposed to be one. It appears to be all broken and missing, however. The flyback itself should be fine.

To the OP: you need to replace that HV diode that seems to have disintegrated.

And you'll need some type of acid free rtv (think aquarium sealant) or some other type of high voltage putty to keep the thing sealed up and arc/corona free.

OT - glad you merged them, but couldn't you delete the duplicate one and then move the other? No sense having two posts in this thread with the same info...

i have an old flyback i pulled and replaced and its all intact,i have conversed with the op elesewhere,i am sure he will come back and post again.

this is what i have and can give him:

as far as i am aware its not working but if theres a part he can use then its there for him.at least the part on his thats exploded aint on mine.

Uh... There's still no HV diode. That's the part he's missing. He has a flyback. Unfortunately, at the moment, I don't know of a source. There are a few equivalent parts to the original. Bob Roberts usually has them, but his site says out of stock right now.

Even if the holder is slightly broken, it's simple to solder to the diode and use insulating RTV as Mod mentions.

But, yeah, that flyback does have an intact holder on it. Why do you think your flyback doesn't work? These flybacks are pretty robust, I've only ever seen one bad one, and it had a lot of obvious burn marks on it.

So the hv diode is actualy the lead that attachs to the tube?we learn everyday ;)

the unitbthere came from a space zap cab.it had glow and nothing at the tube.i bought a nos one of a seller here ages ago.fitted that and everything was good.perhaps it was cold solder,i dont know now as its not on a chassis and i dont think i will be bothered to refit it again to see.
:)

hello , can anyone help me further with this atall please?

was the same flyback or replacment rolled out over a same number of machines ?

or atleast the parts i need ? . there is a company on the internet who has a flyback complete on there website by they arent responding to emails ?

im in the uk so cant call :(

hi ive managed to . fixed it thanks :) ..well did the repair anyway . full pics at www.dropshots.com/midway

.

still got same issues though ??

plugged it in , crossed fingers and whoopppie i have neck glow , no arching .

job done :)

however with either chassis in cab and in either cab , the screen remains white ? i have no game play , no game sounds , doesnt coin up yarda yarda yarda :(

reset line issue perhaps which you mentioned ???? .. seems weird happening on both cabs ?

as to v5 voltage should i have it bang on 5.0 or more ??

as per the brent radio website/pages

i checked some voltages ?

: with multi meter set on v-...

+5v was 5.10 i altered it to +5.1

-5v was 5.13 altered it to -5.1

12v was 12.20 altered to 12.02

reset sig was 0.01

didnt check 18v as didnt know what the 1000uf cap was ??

anyways changed multimeter to v squiggle and got :

+5 was 0.00 to 0.01

-5 was 0.00

12v was 0.00

does this tell anyone anything ?

further update with power on and board disconnected using the (music note setting for continuity) on my meter measuring from the power supply to the pin on the edge connector i have the following

my pin numbers ...

: pin 14 ground

: pin 4 -5

: pin 5 ground and -5

: pin 16 12v

: pin 14 -5

: pin 16 -5

: pin 18 -5

: pin 18 +5

: pin 16 +5

seems odd to me some pins can have cont at ground and also -5 ? and so on ?

all my pins are backwards to look at which doesnt help , ive managed to match wires ok on new edge connector put put the numbers on the wrong way round

so pin 18 ia actually pin 1 and so on to confuse further :(

looks like either you have the edge connector wired up wrong or you are not reading it correctly

i havent touched the edge conenctor ? ive only copied where the wires go ?

on my other midway the wires are in the same positions ?

i will tell you one thing though,if you wire up minus voltages wrong you will most likely blow the shit out of the game board

when ive taken the cont readings today i havent got a gameboard installed and i wont . as ive just forked out alot of money with irongiant to have one fixed ?

meter readings again today from supply were :

-5 5.00

+5 5.01

12v 12.00

and on ripple setting

-5 0.00

+5 0.00

12v 0.01

when i did cont readings no gameboard was installed and i was taking readings from power supply to pin inside edge connector

i only have togo on the cabs i have before me , seems odd they both wired the same ? and neither work , just show a white screen ?

thing is too , i can only go on what the seller told me and he said one worked and used to play it then one day didnt work

so i persumed neither had been fucckered with ? infact i still dont know if they have / i cant see any loose wires and they all seem to be original wiring ??

anyway got a bog standard midway si they can show me pic of there edge conenctor please?

again all ive done is copied the pins and there spacings inbetween ? :( albeit with the edge connector numbers and letters upside down

took one of them tv multi games you plug direct into tv and used that and look what i got on moniter on machine

:) ..

happier now .
still need my gameboards testing again .
