A buddy picked-up a Midway Shoot The Bull and asked me to convert it back to Pac-Man. It worked before he pulled the boardset and I have no reason to doubt him, however I didn't get the blob with the boardset to test it again. Anyway, I installed good PROMs and a Z80 (don't have the 4A and 7F color PROMs yet), but the board won't boot. Were there any mods that needed to be done such as cut traces, etc.? I see a few chips and traces were replaced/repaired, but again this was done prior to the board coming to me working as a Shoot The Bull. I have been unable to find a copy of the conversion manual.

To close this thread...

I found the info I was looking for and there are no mods necessary to convert a Pac-Man PCB to Shoot The Bull. The "glob", six PROMs (rows 5 and 6) and the two color PROMs (4A and 7F) are all that is necessary. My issues were traced back to the CPU/socket.

Many issues can be traced to those CPU, ROM, and daughter card sockets on Pac boards. Especially if you are plugging in a kit that has large pins that can stress or bend the socket contacts.

Congrats on bringing it back to life. :)
