Has anyone who has a Midway light ray shooter game modified the gun to make the light brighter?
If I could I would change the lenses at the end of the barrel. The glass is a little chipped and I think it is diffusing the light too much.
I believe this is called a collimator. Mine is held in with what looks like a spring. Afraid to take it out at this point.
As far as I can tell, the projector lamp emits light which passes through a first lens which has a metal bracket with a tiny hole. At the end of the gun, in the barrel, is the second lens that I feel could be better.

If it is anything like the one Seeburg uses, it uses a lightbulb. That one has four screws that aim the light down the tube. A LED has been known to be installed in place of the original bulb.

I do not have the game that you have. I am just making general comparisons to the gun game that I have.

I know it is the original non led bulb because I had the game longer than led bulbs have been around. If i find another gun i will try and convert it to L.E.D is 5he plan.

First, be sure the correct bulb number is already installed. Check the lamp socket contacts for signs of tarnishing/corrosion. Make sure the glass globe of the bulb is clean (dirt obscures light output).

Is the bulb correctly aligned?

Incandescent bulbs will blacken internally with use and go dim. When that happens, you replace the bulb with a new one.

This was partially blocking some light.
Took it out and light looks stong now and I can set the sensitivity lower which is good..
