Im trying to compile a list of midway games that used spinners and the part number of the optic pcb for each of them. I plan on doing a small run of the disc of tron ones soon and would like to see what other games share the same optic boards.

Tron

sorry I haven't gotten back to you on this riptor, I haven't been at my work bench for a week.

I swear (though I need to be more thorough) that tron and KK are the same board with a different angled connector.

edit: put it this way, it's the same board for sure, I just need to look and see if any of the parts are different.

Part numbers are a big help. They dont seem to list schematics for these boards so im going to need to physically look at the boards to see what the difference is.
From what I have seen the components are mostly the same but the pinout differs. I know the deluxe board has a jumper on it.

Anyone have a Zwackery or Crater Raider manual to see what the part number is on the optic board?

Ok, now im getting somewhere. The drawing in the crater raider manual actually says kozmik krooz'r on it so im going to assume midway used the drawing because it uses the same board.

Two tigers. Omega race. I think the driving games used the same opto board as the spinner games, i.e. demo derby

Two tigers dedicated used A080-91794-A000 afaik. The tron conversion used the original spinner assy from the tron.
I will look into the steering wheels and see what they used. Thanks!

I know you know this since you helped me with repair mine, but wacko has opto boards though it's board the trackball.

Can you get the part number off the board? If I remember correctly it was the "deluxe" board.

pretty clearly I was either drunk or have no grasp of the english language when I wrote this statement, but I will get you the part #.

ok part # is:

A082-91429-C000

it says x-y ball sensor p.c.
pat. pending

I don't see 'deluxe' on there, but I didnt' look at the bottom.

edit: and I'm 3 margaritas and a 24oz beer in, but i think this makes sense. Tomorrow when I'm sober I will reevaluate.

pictures of the kozmik krooz'r spinner pcb:

virtually the same as tron

first pic is tron and KK next to each other

edit:
pic 2 and 3 are KK and pic 4 is tron

Those do look identical.....I wonder why Bally gave them different part numbers?? The only (trivial) difference I see is a straight header versus a 90° header.

The board layout looks the same. It's hard to see, but it looks like R106 (can't see the # exactly) towards the bottom and the two bottom resistors (R107/R108)on the two rows at the top may have different values. Maybe that's why the part #'s are different?
