Midway coin door with start button made to coin button

I have an early Midway coin door that has the same dimensions as the later (ms Pac style) coin doors. The only difference is that this early door has a "start" button on it. Has anyone used one of these doors rewired this to act as a "coin up" button? I know it's silly but would be cool to keep the game out of free play. I thought this would be cool as it would retain the arcade look...

A lot of the midways have a operators' credit button located on a service mount inside the coin door. I detached the one from my spyhunter service mount and threaded it out the side of the CP.(Barely noticeable and not permanent) I have nieces and nephews who play, and if there is no free play setting, I really don't want them trying to open up the coin door and messing with the coin mechs to trigger credits.

This start button is a factory button on the front of the coin door. It's not the one inside but a shiny red button with "PRESS" written on it. It's like the 1 or 2 player button on the CP but integrated into the front of the coin door instead of the CP. i will get a pic later if anyone's interested.

I don't think any came from the factory with that button in place. Probably put in after by someone.

Nope. It was standard on at least Gun Fight.

Yeah, it was standard on most (maybe all) of the 70's era Midway games. Now, a lot of them didn't have the button installed...but the hole and weldmounts are there. There was a factory "button hole plug" installed to "hide" the hole.

Dang, I've been wondering how to get a button mounted into that hole. These pics help a ton...now i just need to find a button.

Midway Button

My coin door has the hole, but no button. It would be nice if I can get an original button for the door. Anyone have a source for the buttons?
