Midway Coin Door Logo Plate "Rivet" Thread

The last three midway doors ive done ive used a drill.. and drilled PART BUT NOT ALL of the backside of the rivet. I then use a sharp pin punch (think sharp skinny nail) to push the rivet out. Clean it up. Install logo plate with a little epoxy, install each rivet and re-smash the back of the rivet with a wider dull pin punch, forcing the metal back outwards holding the rivet back in place. IF you cant gt one to stay tight just a toothpick and a touch of epoxy on the inside will hold it.

Everything else just doesent look right.

Umm I will look into this..I work f15 jets structure and shoot lots of rivets. You should not have to up size the wholes or and shims to the hole if the rivet doesn't fit. The rivet shaft is the dia size of the rivet.
I will have to look at my coin doors when I get a chance.
If you are going to drill out a rivet use the smallest dia bit

More to follow

So has anyone come up with a definitive solution to the Midway coin door rivets? I've read a lot of good tips on this thread but nothing 100%. The rivets @ macro specialties part #07-6688-2 looks good, but mine are not brass. At least the back part of the rivet is not. The front is rusted. The ones you can custom order from Hanson Rivets look promising as well. Since it appears that the rivets on this page http://www.hansonrivet.com/design-a-rivet.htm
are close, look at the third one from the left on the top row. Other than maybe the head being nail flat, the shaft looks good and more exacting to the rivets used on the coin door. My rivets do not appear dome topped and look more flat to me.

My Omega Race has completely flat rivets on the coin door.

Ms. Pac and Galaga have ones with a very very slight rounded top.

My solution on a Ms.Pac door:

1.Get some nails with a nice round and smooth head.
2.Mark where you will need holes on the repro coin door plate using the door (from the back). Drill the holes with a Dremel
3. Remove the backing and position the plate using the nails, then press hard to activate the glue

1.Oops, the nails extend too far on the underside...can't have that for the coin mechs so
2. Cut the nails back a bit
3. Put a bit of construction glue on the nails. Insert them in the holes and hammer them in carefully, use some protection for the heads of the nails

1. Remove the protecting foil

2. Done. Nice. Not 100% authentic but damn close and looking sweet. Better then SCREWS that some people use......not mentioning any names though...... :D
