Picking this up this week. Can anyone tell me what other cabarets have this style cab? I'm curious if the CP is hacked up or an original something else.

Looks like a Galaga cabaret to me, with some custom work done on the CP.

Galaga cabarets came in a couple of flavors: one with a wrap-around marquee, and one with the marquee you see there. It possibly could've been converted from another Midway cabaret...but not likely.

There are lots of little design differences in these cabinets between games.

Thanks, I wasn't sure since I saw so many different variations searching the web. At first I thought it had Ms Pac CP and they drilled fire button holes. The bottom piece of the CP looks shorter than the Galaga pics I've seen.

I guess I'll have to wait until I can open up the control panel and take a look underneath. I kind of like that overlay though.

I'm inclined to think there was only so much consistency going on with these games, and a lot of parts sharing. They used Gorf bezels and cabinets to make some of the Galaxian cabarets, for instance.

Guessing it's a Super Pac cabaret, based on the control panel:

Dedicated Galaga CP is taller, like Pac / Ms. Pac, with a left-handed / left offset layout and tiny P1/P2 buttons (like on Midway cocktails). The marquee looks correct, but it's hard to tell if it's a full wrap or what. My Galaga cabaret is a factory converted Ms. Pac, and it has a taller full wrap — this marquee looks very similar.

Wow the superpac CP layout looks identical, thats what I was looking for. I got this delivered yesterday but didnt have time to look inside. That overlay is actually painted on lol!

Did all cabaret's have a bubble on the backside for the monitor bulge?

I don't remember at the moment if the Pac-Man, Space Zap, Galaxian (Type I) etc. cabs did. The rest did, but the bubble on the back isn't the same on all of them. I believe one was repro'd at some point, and it didn't come close to fitting my Tron cabaret...

Centipede did not have it cause they just made the cab deeper. I think Dig Dug may be the same way.

All the Midway cabarets do. I haven't seen any other manufacturer that used them. Even the Midway Wizard of Wor upright has a small bubble on the back.

Assuming that is a Super Pac, that is going to be a tough restore. They are quite rare. Definitely post if you find more corroborating evidence.

Yes, those have the bubble. Far as I know, they're all the same. They might be different for the horizontal cabarets, but I don't have one to compare.

There are 3 different bubbles.

Pac-Man/Galaxian use a very deep square buble with triangle bump out that comes out about 4.5" at the base

Ms.Pac/Galaga/Tron/Kick use a similar one but only comes out 3.5" at the base

Rally-X/Wizard of Wor/Roby Roto, being horizontal mounted monitors, don't actually need to bump out due to the horizontal frame sticking out in vertical orientation, but rather have a small 5" round by a couple inch deep circle bump out to just protect the neckboard area.

Cool, thanks for the info.

What about the bubbles for GORF / Galaxian Type II? Satan's Hollow? Blue Print? (etc.)

Looks like it was originally a Super Pac....at least the control panel. Looked underneath and all holes look like they should be there. I was tight for time so I only removed some of the paint and can see that the overlay underneath is blue with yellow and red. Although the area I uncovered is under the button to the left of the joystick and I saw that it says Bally, maybe even Midway. From the pic and any other Super Pac CPO I found on the web, they don't have that writing in that area.

The marquee is a wrap around Galaga, but you can tell it's too small for that space and is held in there with bigger brackets. I can see from the pic ieure posted, the marquee is much larger.

Any thoughts as to what I should do in terms of what title or titles it should be restored to? Would marquees & bezels from different cabaret styles like Pacman fit this style cab?

Probably doesn't matter at this point. Super Pac is very rare, it will be impossible to get art for it. The original marquee was flat with retainers, which you might need to fabricate, and the rest would need reproducing. I'd photograph the control panel for posterity if the original was under there.

Update

Removed more paint and discovered that it's not a super pac but Blueprint. I've never even heard of this game lol.

Oh nice. That's another rare one. The overlay actually looks really good. Are you going to convert back?

Blue Print is fun, but really hard.

Depending on how the CP turns out after all the paint is removed, I might keep it as is. Not sure how hard it will be to find blueprint stuff though. Going to try to the game out in Mame and see what it's all about.

I'm assuming a galaga or Ms pac/Pac CP won't fit this cab? I notice those have a higher front piece on the control panel.
