Hi,

Looking for someone familiar with these two different 4 player cabs. How different are they in terms of exact specs? Could you seamlessly turn NBA Jam into TMNT and vice versa with the side art and CPO etc transferring without any sizing issues?

Thanks.

sizing is definitely different, while i'm not shure the exact dimensions some of the other differences are the coin doors (2 vs 1), the CP (midways is more round while the konami has a provision for the monitor/zbracket), the speaker area on a konami is cut out while midway has a nice bezel. This is all i can think of off the top of my head right now.

I've got 1 of each sitting next to each other. I thought this pic might be a good size comparison picture? Note that both are pushed all the way against the wall. The Midway is much deeper and all around bigger. If you arent worried about having the correct cab the Konami is much smaller and easier to move. The Midway is extremely heavy and has a taller stature.

Art work would certainly not interchange exactly between the two. depending on the artwork, if it isnt cut out already you might be able to get it to work on each?

I've tried putting both X-men and Captain America into my NBA Jam cabinet (converted to an NHL Open Ice), and the buttons were all goofy and different.

You'd have to make custom adapter or wiring harness.

Of course, NBA Jam / Open Ice / Blitz convert quickly and perfectly...

To be honest, I do not like where this is going........

Thanks for the help everyone - much appreciated. Found a midway cab over the weekend. I think at this point, I'll go after one of each.

open ice, hangtime, rampage world tour

total carnage has a 4p size control panel tho it's 2p

All right - for the experts in this thread. Is the cab below a true 4 player Konami cab?

You are the best Rick, thanks. However, now it looks like a UFO spotting, but I agree, seems to be two ports. Therefore, it is probably a Simpsons cab as Main Event had a different control panel. Johnny, you could also just ask the guy if the cab still has the factory sticker on the back, or inside. That would tell you what game it was as well. Put me down for $20 on Simpsons.

lol thanks.. yeah I think its a Simpsons as well..

Thanks for everyones help - a lot of knowledge in these forums.

It's one of a handful of cabs I'm considering. While we're on the topic of Konami cabs - How much would you guys pay for a working Turtles cab, in so-so condition with some mismatched artwork, no PCB?

Interested in the opinions of this thread.

Being I print arcade graphics.. I can take a $50 TMNT cab and make it look new for a pretty low cost... so for me Ill pay up to $200 for a decent shape empty one. But if I was average Joe, had to buy the artwork, buy the PCB, fix the monitor.. I would pay no more than $100 on the empty cab.. I took my empty cab, painted it, put new graphics on it, new green trim $30, new 27" LCD $130, (didnt have PCB) so I put a p4 $100 computer in it, $30 ipac interface, and a $20 pc stereo from walmart. Cab now looks brand new and plays 4 different games on it.. TMNT, TMNT turtles in time, Simpsons, and SunsetRiders. A local bar has been offering me $1000 for it... but I am not sure I want to sell it to them... I am now attached to it and to see it go into a bar and get beat on would just kill me... plus I really want to eventually get working PCBs in there to play the real thing.. not emulated.. although there isn't really much of a difference...

edit.. I forgot to mention I spent nearly $100 for all brand new original NOS joysticks and new buttons..

I just read your thread about MAMEing out an NBA Jam cabinet, so I do not want to talk to you anymore...............

I am kidding, kind of, anyway prices depend on a lot of variables. You said a "working Turtles cab, in so-so condition with some mismatched artwork, no PCB?" but those are all completely different machines. I am not sure what you mean by mismatched artwork either. Semi-converted? Working TMNTs in decent shape typically bring about $450-$500. But the price can drop fast. For instance, if it is missing a PCB, that will cost you at least $100 right there. RidicRick, the other guy commenting on your thread can sell you all of the required artwork.

Edit: Just saw Rick's post.....
