Not sure if this should be in the EM section or here. Kinda falls in-between like Baby Pac or Granny & the Gators. Anyway...

Picked up a Bally Midnight Marauders. Everything works except the gun is not registering shots. The MPU has no battery damage & is flashing properly. The trigger & flashing light in the gun when you shoot work. Not sure if it is:

1. The gun led
2. The "infrasense" board
3. A power issue

Any advise is appreciated. :0)

Also anyone have a PDF of the schematics? I got a manual from Todd @ TNT today (THANKS TODD!) and am going to scan & upload to KLOV later.

update...

Anyone? :0)

I found the schematics from gameboardsdoc on ebay so those are on the way...

I measured the voltages at the gun led. 15v and 8v so something is way off. One side I assume should be no charge ground and I'd expect the other to be like 1.5v for the sensor.

Orion3311 has been super helpful and his tip/trick may be useful to you. A cell phone camera can typically see infrared light. You can test this with a remote control. Put your phone into camera mode, point a remote at it and press a button. Pretty cool stuff.

Anyway used this trick to see if the gun sensor actually lit and it does not. Still there are different types of sensors so this might not be 100% accurate.

Guess I am on hold until the schematics get here unless one of you has any thoughts?

Schematics & manual

I just sent nice large images of the original blueprints & manual to KLOV. Should be uploaded to the listing soon...

That is so cool.

Just for info, I had a gun issue with my operation wolf and it turned out to be a ground wire had come loose in the bottom of the cab.

Its possible one side is supposed to be ground, but doesn't get switched until the trigger is pressed. Not everything is switched on the + side, a lot of things get switched by the ground side.

Plus you have to see if its a sensor or LED...the cam trick will pick up the LEDs but sensors have to be tested a different way.

update

There are definitely some shorts in the cab (insert joke). I separated the 2 wires for the gun led from the rest of the harness for starters and fixed a broken wire to the flashers in the cab.

Now when I pull the trigger one of the space ships blows up (over and over) and it doesn't need to be aimed at. Guessing a chip or two on the infrasense is fried from the previous short to the led.

Anyway I am waiting on a diode for the power supply to get here from bigdaddy-enterprises and will test everything piece by piece once the power supply is 100% again. (I say again because I am the one who killed the diode).

I now have:
a spare infrasense board & solenoid/lamp board (thanks Anthony - Quarterarcade)
an extra -133 mpu
the manual (thanks Todd - TNT Amusements)
and full size schematic blueprints (thanks Bill Burger gameboardsoc1234 on ebay).

This game will be 100% again soon!

Keep at it!

Tackle problems like fingers, eliminate one at a time and eventually you will have none.
