I made the trek yesterday to Marvins Marvelous Mechanical Museum im Farmington Hills
I had been wanting to get over there for quite some time, as I had never been. Just in case anyone is on the fence about making the trip DONT HESITATE, it was seriously one of the coolest places I have ever been!
Anywhoo on to the pin...
I have not had alot of chances to play most of the newer Sterns as local pinball for me is about an hour in any direction.
What I am getting at is that my review might be a little biased as I was pretty thrilled to play ANY brand new pin, but the following are my initial impressions of the game.
I walked in and the first thing that caught my eye was how much better the TRON BG is than AVATAR (which was sitting right next to it).
I scanned the rule sheet on the apron and plunked in a few credits.
Thankfully the tilt was set VERY liberal as I soft plunged into the skill shot into the arcade scoop.
To me the flippers were very solid and I felt very connected to the game as compared to Ironman which IMHO just feels cheap. (Great game just FEELS different)
The ramps were a thing of beauty, I have never had the chance to see what brand new ramps LOOK like yet alone PLAY like.
The spinning disc is an amazing feature and I found myself shooting it over and over just because it was so much fun, vs the other multiballs which score more points.
The sound package I thought was great, the music lends itself great to pinball as it is very hypnotic and grew with intensity as the game went on.
The callouts were 50/50 in my book...Some of them seemed to fit very well and added to the gameplay and others seemed a bit annoying.
Overall I think it is the best game ( of the newer Sterns) that I have played. I cant wait to see the LEs!
On a side note I have to mention that it was really cool to see alot of Pin people come out to play the game, the atmosphere was very party like, everyone was very friendly (people playing doubles not being greedy) Everyone was having a great time and I got to talk ALOT of Pinball with complete strangers, and it was cool to see that maybe there is still hope!
Im not sure who is in charge of the pins there but whoever it is keep up the great work!
Fantastic line up of
