Not exactly a 'video games post' but I thought I would share some quick photos. I hit the Expo today from about noon until 4:30 or so....great time! Great selection of vintage EM's (my favorites) along with some video games (Asteroids, Defender, Baby Pac, Centipede, Robotron and others) - probably about 200 games total . It was fun to meet with some of my partners in crime and post high scores just slightly higher than first place on most of the video games - felt like old times. The crowd was light early on (great for game play) but by the time I left it was PACKED!

Plan to attend tomorrow evening... Looking for a good deal on a Simpsons or like... see any for sale there for a good Klover price?

BTW- I LOVE your arcade!!!

Believe it or not...they had TWO Grand Prix's there! One was so nice I took a few shots of it...easily the best example I have ever seen. I'm lucky enough to actually own one and it is a BLAST to play. Needless to say...I spent a good amount of time today playing this incredible machine! One of Kordek's best....

Thanks! Didn't see a Simpsons...but then again I wasn't looking for one. So many great games...

Good stuff Alan, thanks for posting some info about how it was. I am planning on going out on Sunday. Approximately how many vids did they have?

Good times for sure!!! I was up there with the wife and kids and 2 friends. Stayed from about 3 till 10, my older son came in 3rd place in the kids tournament today! He won a nice little trophy and both my kids got a mipinball.com t-shirt. Wish it was a little closer than 45 minutes away so I could go back another time this weekend.

That sounds fantastic, son won a trophy for playing pinball- that is incredible!

Sounds like good times. I think I am more like an hour to an hour + to get out there, but I am still shooting for Sunday if I can pull it off.

In the main room only 3......Defender, Baby Pac and Granny and the Gators. There were 2 other rooms that had 5-6 each....

Yes. Great time. Pretty small compared to CAX but I could actually play the pins.

Will share my photos shortly and especially Alan playing "The Gay 90's" and the Elton John pin. Haa Haa.

The pinball expo at Oakland U was a blast! I went with the family from around 3 pm and stayed till 10 pm. I played just about every machine there. Very nice selection of games.
I also got to hear Steve Ritchie speak about joining up with Stern. He told some good stories relating the inspiration for High Speed. It involved him owning a porsche and opening it up on a freeway in California and getting pulled over by a TON of police. He also did a question and answer session and spoke of some of his personal favorite pins by other designers and companies.
One of the highlights was someone asking about the difficult cannon shot in Star trek the next generation, and he jokingly told the guy to get out for criticizing his game. He had the crowd laughing quite a few times and seemed to be a nice guy with a real passion for pinball and excitement for what is to come.

My girl got him to sign a getaway plastic as it was all we had for him to sign on. He said normally I would throw this on the ground and stomp on it, but since it was all we had handy, he flipped it over and signed it,

I already can't wait to go back next year. If you have a chance to go on sunday you should go and check it out.

Did anyone else check out the Elvis pinball with the guitar hero controller that let you control the flippers on the game? That was pretty awesome. I spoke to the guy who owned it and he said it was a prototype and he bought it from the owner in chicago that had done the mod. He said the guy goes by the name "corn" in the pinball community.

I think it added a new depth to the game and you can play in tandem with someone playing on the regular flippers.

Neat mod to the game and it fit the theme well.

I liked the Elvis! Bummer that I couldn't find a Simpsons nor a South Park for sale though... If anyone local (2 hours from Detroit or so) has one for a good deal I'd love to hear about it!

The all video pins were interesting although I don't know if my eyes could take it. Cool to be able to play any pin ever made but there is something about the physical mechanical aspect that I like about Pins where a digital pin could never replace.

Pin Expo

It was cool, we went Saturday. It was busy thats for sure and there were quite a few games that were not working. I think the techs were overloaded in game repairs. It was still a good time and some great pins. Not a ton of video games though.

Loved the Defender game next to the Defender pinball machine, be nice to have that pin. Baby Pac was down I was bummed.

Good time

Yeah it seemed like a lot of games were down on Friday when we got there but by Friday night just about everything was up and running. Baby pac was up and running on Friday and the Defenders side by side was really cool. My sons spent most of their time on the Attack from Mars and No Fear machines which were next to each other as well. Added a couple of games to my must have list, almost made a purchase, but it was already pending sale, and played a whole bunch of tables I never had before, so all in all I would say it was a good day.

I was there with my son. I took Thursday off of work and went. I figured Thursday would be the least packed and I was right. I was able to play everything there without any waiting. I was able to try a lot of games that I never had a chance to try so it was fun. I was also able to try a digital pinball table for the first time. As expected it is not as cool of an experience, but still neat. I can't wait until next year's.

Oh btw, the bowling one in the picture above was pretty fun. I played it several times that night.
