I was surfing around some of the arcade auction websites and read on the Michael Angelo auction site sticking a little jab at Super Auctions with the following line in their advertisement.

"BIG selection PLAN TO ATTEND THIS SUPER AUCTION"

Has anyone attended one of their auctions, and if so what where the prices like?

I passed on going to the one up here, but if I recall someone posted at the auction they said "If you're waiting for that $50 or $75 game, you're out of luck at this auction…" so I was glad I passed since im a cheap skate

Been to a couple. Very slow paced. Limited power so you may not be able to see a game on until right before it comes up for bidding. All of their games are sold "working" so don't expect a $40 project. Most of the games come from Namco arcades. You can get a working Cruis'n World and other drivers for $300 to $400. And other older games sell for what the working monitor alone is worth.

So basically your best bet to get a good deal on a game is to just scour CL for someone wanting to desperately jettison a game for one reason or another.

been to 2 now. Here is the best way to do it. Go to the auction early, look around and see which game/s you like and then go home and log onto the online auction. Bid from home. Has a cool ringer when your item is coming up. Beats sitting at the auction for 12 hours while they spend 10 minutes on a $30 gumball machine.

Here are some results from a past thread.

picked up one of those Ms. Pac/Galaga reunion machines at a Namco liquidation auction, I wanna say Michael Angelo did that one. I didn't personally go, my grandpa and cousin went. they were gone like all day. I imagine it was all of Namco's used stock and they were just blowing out the old stuff that's been sitting.

everything went sky high. some guy with probably about a million dollars to blow on opening a new arcade bid the fuck out of everything. had some used Iceballs there, I wanna say they wound up going for $3500 for 3 of them, and he bought them all, something like 4 of the triples put together. we were lucky as hell to walk out with that Namco reunion machine for $1100.

far cry from the Norton/Super Auction stuff, those go for next to nothing. but I guess you get what you pay for -- the Namco one, they were offering free replacements on broken parts if you won the lots.

I bought a cab from there online. I agree with Zud, if your close enough to view the machine before bidding and go home/starbucks/library, whereever and then bid you'll be better off, otherwise be prepared to lose your entire Saturday. Michael seemed pretty cool, I talked to him when I came to pick up my cab for about an hour.

Just be sure to calculate an extra 15% for using bidspotter online as well as tax.

I've known Michael a couple years now and he is nice fellow. I heard some say the opposite, but I've never had any trouble in dealing with Michael.

I will say that the last couple auctions have been taken over by some deep pocket gentlemen, so the deals were slim. The first two I attended in 08 were great. I picked up a bunch of stuff that I was very happy with as far as price and condition go. I think my three best deals there were an NBA Jam for $175, a Marvel vs Capcom 2 for $350 and an Initial D 3 (2 cars and hundreds of cards) for $900. A Namco rep was there once and I asked him about getting some replacement sticks and buttons. He took me out to his truck and handed me some brand new parts! Very nice.

I think the fact that there aren't as many auctions around these parts anymore could also factor in the rising prices at his auctions. The way things are going for him, I'm sure they'll pop up more often. FECs and similar type places are closing left and right so he'll have plenty of arcade items to sell.
