Metallica pinball machine

And with Lars inside -- to make sure you're playing with quarters, and not just tripping the coin mech.

Know the guy who put together the Metallica machine. Here's some pics a few weeks before they delivered it to the guys. Very cool stuff.

Looks eerily similar to an Earthshaker to me... :) I dig the theme though for sure. If there was a real Metallica Pin you better believe I'd own it one day.

That's because it is. :)

I played about ten games over the course of the PPE weekend. Friday it was easy to get a couple games in. Sat/Sun it was quite a wait.

The team that built it took an earthshaker and did all new art, displays, and sounds. I'm not sure if they changed up the rules because I haven't played a ton of Earthshaker, but what little I know (shooting the various zones) seemed to be there.

A few notables: The pop bumpers make a motor cycle rev'ing sound. So if the ball really gets going in the bumpers it sounds like a biker rally. James Hetfiled recorded some sounds for the game. When the ball drains he says "Die-die-diiiiie" and "That was just your life", among others. Various metallica songs are featured in it. There is also the sound of a crowd cheering (like at a concert).

The artwork is really top notch. If you didn't know otherwise, you would never know this is a one-off game. Lucky Ju Ju has another of the artist's games - Hellacopters, a conversion of a wedge head game.

On Friday it played *really* fast and tight. By Sunday afternoon, wow, that thing had some serious wear. It was playing noticably slower.

If you get the chance, it's definitely worth checking out.

It's terrible...... It was at the pinball show here in Marin, CA. AceJedi kept getting the ball stuck in the top right corner, as they took parts out that kept the ball out/guarded that area.... It's a re-painted, Earthshaker....

It would of been nice to see one that was actually made from scratch.

They did do a nice job getting the music and art on it tho.....

I think it looks pretty sweet, I'd love to have a customized pin like that. Earthshaker is a great playing pin so it's a good base game. I'm not a huge Metallica fan, but considering how many pins have crap-tastic themes, I would actually consider this one of the coolest pins around. If I could have a pin with ANY theme at all, I'm not sure what it'd be, to be honest.

The Matrix, Pulp Fiction, or Tool would be pretty good. But any of those would probably scare my kids.
