Metal Lunchboxes when you were a kid.

When I went to school in a log cabin, we had to stalk and kill our lunch every day.

Just kidding, but I never did take a lunch box to school. We ate hot lunch in the cafeteria.

At my kid's private school lunch is catered every day. What a deal.

I had Mcdonalds. My brother had some cartoon one. Some dog with long arms I think I can't think of it but I can picture it. I think it was bluish. We may have had Pac-man but not for sure. No idea what happened to mine. Last time I saw it it had some rust and wasn't in perfect shape but that has been over 10 years ago.

Absolutely love the John Olerud rookie card in the nice case at the top. What's the story behind that card?????

My wife went to a Ranger game when they were playing the Blue Jays. She met him and got him to sign a baseball. She is pretty sure that it was also his rookie year that he signed ball. The ball is inside the same case with the card. Once she got the signed ball, she went and found his rookie card to go with it and has had it ever since. Maybe I can put up a picture of it later.

I owned one metal lunchbox when I was about 7 or so. All I remember about it is that the one side was set up like a game board, and there was a spinner built into the metal that you spun to determine how many spaces to move or something.

I remember seeing more than one of these that had spinners on `em. Anyone got pictures of one?

After that, the vinyl rectangular box "soft lunchboxes" got really popular. Only the dorky kids had the hard plastic ones. ;)

I had one too.. but can't remember which one....

I do know that I went looking to collect some.. cause I thought it would be cool..

well ... they go for big bucks !! there is a big hobby of collecting these...

you'd be surprised what they sell for sometimes....

I had to put plastic bread bags over my feet, and then into my boots to keep my feet dry in the winter time to go to school....

Oh man. me too! I tried to do that to my kids a few weeks ago during a snowstorm and my wife freaked out. I couldn't believe that she had never done nor heard of doing that before.
Makes perfect sense!

I think cause we were poor or something.. dunno.... but yup... plastic bread over the feet....

I can remember in Kindergarten class getting there and taking my boots off, and putting the bags in the boots to wear on the way home too...

I had quite a few metal lunch boxes but the one I remember being my favorite was "Hong Kong Phooey".

I think I have a Super Mario Brothers lunchbox around here with a Pac-man thermos too.

I didn't end up having a lunch box, but I did have a thermos for both Pac-man and Super Mario Brothers.

Here are some pictures.
