these were in the 90% bin at Hobby Lobby today, I picked them up for $1.79 each originally $17.99. I know there has been a bunch of these kind of hobby store finds threads but this is really cheap plus I didn't even find them but my wife did and found me in the store with them :)

I was there to pick up a frame for a poster my wife got for her birthday a week ago.

we're going to see Suicide Squad tomorrow at 12:30.

Super lucky! When these first came out at hobby lobby 1-2 years ago, all the retro collectors in swarms raped all the stores and not one was left in a 100+ mile radius...

How many different ones did they have for sale originally?

These were the ones I found in Denver in January, most of the HL's were out at the time. They also had a 2600 one, didn't pick that one up

This is the one I have been kicking myself on, they had about 5 of them when I got this one, and haven't seen one since. Except on Ebay and they want $80+ for them. I fabbed up a frame and chasing light set for it, but would like to have another original one.

That's great - how did you do the chaser? I have one sitting here and have been thinking about doing something like that.

I seen that one when I first joined here, mine isn't that hi-tech with the printed circuit boards, I want it to look like an sign from somewhere around the 1920's - 50's era, found a set of led lights on Amazon, drilled holes for the bulbs, made a metal frame housing (needed the depth for the wires) and mounted the control box behind the "A", you push on the center of the A to cycle through the 9 modes. Here is a vid of mine in action of it going through the different modes. (sorry for the thread hijack OP!!)

How big did you drill the bulb holes? I bought these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AWG1SLG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The bulb and lights don't separate so I'm gonna have to drill a hole the same diameter as the bulb.

Those look pretty close to the same ones I bought (but mine aren't remote controlled), I don't see the ones I got on Amazon anymore, they were the 50 bulb version of these.

I drilled the holes just a hair smaller than the base of the plastic bulb, I heated them up with a hair dryer as the plastic bulb is just siliconed onto the LED and they pulled right apart after they got hot enough. Then I pushed the plastic bulb into the hole of the sign and it being smaller, it held them in place and kind of threaded them in, I did put some silicone on the back side to keep them from moving, then just pushed the LED's into the bulb from the back side. PM if you have any more questions or need more pics. Thanks Todd

I have one of those signs too, sans the bulbs.
