Frytex and I traveled to the wasted deadlands of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area today, and at one stop met Raven. Cool guy with way too much land and space to put all the crap us long-term collectors eventually accumulate.

We've had a "deal" for about a year, but neither of us were in that big of a hurry, and neither had made a trip towards the other until now.

I gave him a working Trivia Whiz countertop, and he gave me a complete Lethal Enforcers artwork kit for my crappy LE.

The driving sucked, but the meet was worth it. We were going up for another arcade-related reason, and made the stop while up there....

Come on Mod, spill the beans.... What else were you up here for? :)

Picked up a bunch of arcade boards from a guy who found them in an abandoned storage unit. An entire pickup truck full. We're just now trying to go through them, but have found some cool stuff so far. Gonna be a long time testing everything....

You know the drill Mod...

Pics pics or it didn't happen!!! :D

I actually had my camera along and thought afterwards i should have taken pics.

I know Raven has a little girl that wakes him up bright and early, but meeting us a 8:30am on a Saturday is still above-and-beyond....

And you didn't share the wealth?!? I'd have made a drive to DFW for something like that. Although R3LL1K did stop by and pick up his LCD monitor this afternoon and we shot the breeze about our projects for a while, so I guess that was important, too!

That's cool! Congrats on the haul! Must have been a good deal to get you guys to come all the way up here. :)

I get to meet a KLOV'er tomorrow. I'm making the drive up to Wichita Falls to meet Charles (RacerX1690) and buy his Space Duel. :cool2:

Oh, good grief! So you left Austin at about 5am?

Talk about above-and-beyond -- yikes!

Charles is a good guy. I made the drive from Houston earlier this year to buy the Joust cocktail from him. Made for a long day driving round trip like that.

Say hi to him for me.

Will do!

Stupid 10 Char limit... :)

Yup. Hit his house about 8:30, hit the next stop about 10, was back on the road around 11 or so, grabbed some lunch, back in Austin at 3:15.

It was worse for Frytex, as he lives near San Antonio, so he left closer to 4am. But - I drove, so he got a little sleep on the way up...

Yeah, it was great to meet these guys! I've been wondering about Mod for quite awhile. Trade was excellent, and Frytex went home with a little bonus too, that I see he has failed to mention.......

Anyway, I am totally jealous of their score and equally glad they came by here first (so I didn't have to kill them and steal everything) :D

Damnit Mod!

Raven is 20 min from my house!

Next time you're up here, give me a shout!

EEEK!

I'm short on room!

Besides, I have about 30 Pac boards and a stack of Nintendo boards to repair for a couple of folks. I'm trading labor for boards.

When I'm finally done with those, I'll have a hell of a Pac sale.

I'm always up for meeting forum folks though! When my son and I went to Wyoming earlier this month on our father/son roadtrip we met up with a couple of guys from a metal detecting forum I help moderate.

Last year we met up with one of the mods from the neo-geo.com forums while on our annual father/son road trip. He took us to an amazing restaurant in Minneapolis. Mmmmm.... nothing like making gourmet smores over an open flame inside a restaurant.

I met RacerX1690 today. He was cool and we chatted for a little while after we loaded his Space Duel in my truck. :) BTW - Tillman's Roadhouse just south of Dallas is known for their smores done table side.

I met another KLOVer today too, his name is John and he's a recovering World Record holder on a few games. He's currently in the 12-step arcade player recovery program. Hopefully he'll chime in soon!
