The Christmas auction up in Mesquite was a real mixed bag, both in terms of the selection available and the pricing.

KatanaJoe, Mrs. KatanaJoe, myself and Mrs. Yellowdog got up before the crack of sanity, drove up to the auction and spent the day playing games, talking with friends and oh yeah, buying games.

The prices were abnormally high in the beginning. Apparently the auction promoters managed to make the local news and so a bunch of civilians showed up to drive the prices up, at least in the beginning. I felt really sorry for this one young lady, she was bidding against the owner for a Williams Getaway pin and she wouldn't back down. That was an extra $500 dollars out of the Christmas kitty :(.

Towards the middle of the auction the prices started to go more to the liking of the KLOV Price Police, including a few outright steals.

I missed the auction for the Stargate cocktail that was there. It was beautiful and seemed to be working 100%. Then by coincidence, I heard the number of the seller that bought the Stargate get called and I knew that guy. Joe and I started to talk to him and later he offered me a deal I couldn't pass up. Even though it meant digging into the "Yellowdog wants a pin fund".

KatanaJoe's steal of the week:

That is two linked VirtualOn units (a master & a slave unit) for one low, low price.

Overall, it was a pretty decent auction, with some of the "name brand" items going pretty high (especially at the beginning) and the big items going very low.

A few more random pics:

They had two big neons there, I think they each went for $200:

They also had a go-cart there. It looked pretty cool, but I don't remember the price.

Trey's trailer loaded up with Joe's Virtual-Ons. Back of the truck had a converted SmashTV and another game. Not in the picture was the $1 Tic-Tac-Toe redemption machine Trey bought for his kids.

Overall, I think the plush monkey in one of the claw machines summed it up nicely:

On the Getaway pin, she was bidding against my friend not the owner. He wanted a car theme game and she kept bidding up on it so he stopped. We thought she was the owner. He ended up getting the Dale Jr instead which I think was a better buy anyway.

Hope everyone had a great time!

My friend called and was heading to his ranch over the weekend so I took my 12yr old son and we went as his guest. We got a nice 8 point buck and I got to shoot my new pistol for the first time. It's sighted in nicely and I was banging the 8" gong from 15 yards with it.

The buck was a 200 yard shot and I got it through both lungs. It trotted off the field and dropped. I showed my son the blood on the ground and how to trail by looking for the next drops... He took off and found the deer before I did. :D He also helped field dress it and go dump off the gut bucket away from camp.

I was banging the 8" rifle gong from 100 yards with my AR-15 using iron sights and the kiddo decided he wanted to try shooting it. He was just a hair to the right, but hey, at 12yrs old, he was doing just fine for his first time shooting it.

Sorry, the way Shawn was running the bidding was the same as when he is checking the owner for a buyback. Glad your friend got the Dale Jr. He was right in dropping out, she probably would have run that Getaway up even higher.

Raymond glad you and your son had a good weekenrd. I found Pat but he said Mike had the stuff, but I never managed to find him. It was while I was out with Pat chasing Mike that they auctioned the Stargate (David, the mullet headed boy wonder) went down the cocktails after the pins instead of going back down the big ticket games. But that worked out ok.

Just tell me there was no Missile Command or Food Fight in stunning condition and I won't feel like I missed out. :D

There wasn't a Missle Command or a Food Fight on the floor that I remember seeing. But I saw 2 Missle Commands out in the parking lot, so they were probably side deals. No idea of the actual condition, but the art on the side on one looked perfect.
