I got this old Merit slot machine the "Superstar 4000" that is not working. I can't find any information about these anywhere on the internet. I've done tons of searching, but nothing. It looks like its in pretty decent shape, i'd really like to get it working... It powers on, i hear a fan kick in, and for a second the monitor flickers when i turn it on, but i never see any image on the screen. Does anyone have any ideas or tips? I guess probably not too many people have these since there are no references to it on the internet...

thanks

Have you telephoned tech support at Merit/AMI Entertainment?
I doubt they would even have anyone there that would know about this. On there website I can't find any mention of them having video poker/slot machines(actually can't find any mention of it anywhere on the internet...). All they have on their site is things like Touchmaster...

I had the exact same machine. Mine had a weird ticket printer that had to be on and working in order for the game to credit up. Mine was doa (hence, almost free) and it turned out to be a power supply issue. ifrc, one of the outputs was a weird voltage that worked, but one or more of the more common voltages (12volts maybe? It has been awhile) did not. I ended up using the original power supply for the oddball voltage and a switching power supply for the standard ones. Booted up fine and worked well afterward.

I searched everywhere for info on that thing and found very little. Even getting into the op settings was found through trial and error. You might be able to find some of my older questions on it posted here.

Yours has the printer too. It needs to have paper in it in order to pass the self test. I jammed it so it would not waste paper every time i turned it on.

mine does have a full roll of paper in it. I cant get to that point for the printer to do anything. The thing powers up, i see the screen flicker a little, and the fan turns on. I'm missing some things that i'm working on getting, i have no reset key, no cherry switch, it looks like a few chips are missing on the board too...
