I have a Ion mt that is showing error dsub analog cable disconnect . I have reseated the dimm, cpu, hard drive and there are no cables uplugged that I can see. Merit says send it in, but is there anything else I can do?? Kinda in a jam as the game is sold. Thanks in advance.

Try changing the power supply. Have fixed several with the same symptom.

I fixed one that had a good power supply, but the motherboard wasn't allowing the power up sequence to start. Did a bypass jumper and everything worked fine...

I did put a new power supply in and had to jumper green / gray and it fires, but still with the dsub analog error. The thing that gets me is that there is 12v/5v present, but neither the display fires (no green led present at the touch screen controller) nor the hdd. Tried another drive and same thing. So I think it's getting blocked on the logic board? Anyone had this issue ?
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried reseating the DIMM (or is it SIMM)? Check the battery while you're in there.

I'm trying to find the info from when I worked on one of these...

Yes, the 2 dimm were reseated and moved to other slots. No beep, same error.
Thanks!

Okay - the dsub analog error pops up whenever the LCD screen doesn't receive a video signal from the motherboard. This is usually because the motherboard is not running properly. Here are some things to try:

a) Reseat the processor. Sometimes this alone will take care of it.

b) Unplug all the connectors to the motherboard and then reconnect them. Perhaps a dirty pin is keeping it from working properly.

c) If you have an Asus motherboard (rather than ECS), then you need a 4-pin 12v connector from the power supply connected before the motherboard will power up. I'm not sure if the new power supply you put in was an exact match or not. Here is the Ion Technical Service Manual, which shows pics of the different motherboards and all the connectors they need.

d) It's possible you may have a more serious motherboard issue, and may need a new motherboard...

Mother board is an ecs style. The game was never on location. In fact the meter has under 50 clicks on it. Inside is clean and still smells new electronic if you will. The initial power supply made the whole game do a fast heartbeat (pulse). Changed it out and got the ba only, jumpered game stayed on but dsub error kicks in. I did all of the above except change caps and battery. Like I mentioned hard drive and lcd/touch controller do not fire. Voltage is present. Does anyone know off hand which caps to change that would interfere with the 5vdc and the 12vdc?? Thanks for all the help.
Also I do not see anything unplugged.
