I can't decide if this is a coin-operated radio or a bank. A coin is inserted and held by a spring. This completes the circuit and turns the radio on. Pushing the "OFF" button releases the spiring and the coin drops. a quirky little item that fits a radio, coin-op or bank collection.

It had a huge "hum" when I bought it. I re-capped it with little success. It worked a little then not at all. I purchased another off of E-bay. After inspecting my work, I cleaned up some mis-placed connections. I can now only get 1 FM radio station real clear.

No clue. It is a tube or solid state unit?

Aha. You have a scope.

Hook to the output down stream of each IF can. Using a non-metallic tool, adjust each stage of the IF cans to get maximum output.

The new caps may have boogered your stage setup.

Take some pictures of the inside. I'd love to have a look. Granted, the last time I did this was 1978.

Don't care. One station is fine for a radio that is only for curiosity.

Aw, come on. I'll help you.

You probably have diddle sticks for TVs - you can use those. They work fine.

You can do it by ear, but a scope is best as it allows you to tune each stage as you go.

It's both. A coin operated bank. I have one of these. They're AM. Picked it up at a yard sale. They're neat. From a time people were encouraged to save.
