Hi all,
I recently acquired a megatouch XL and bought a platinum upgrade kit (CD, spoon key and key adapter) I replaced the previous key with the key adapter and spoon key without any problems. However now when I boot up the game with the new Platinum CD I receive the following error F/thefiles.dat 1 file copied Bad command or filename D:. Unfortunately I do not know which version of the XL I have, as the CD that was originally in the Megatouch is a bootleg CD and nowhere in the game menu or anywhere else does it say if it is 5000, 6000 etc. Any ideas?

i think there is a jumper that needs to be changed on your i/o board

one of the jp ones, can't remember which though:(

did you increase the memory from the original size? as I think when you go from GOLD or before, you need to up the memory, I have some sticks of memory, that came with a Double Plat. Kit, never had to mess with jumpers when I upgraded a Gold to Titanium, was just a case of adding memory, adding Sec Key and HD

"on the top riser board about in the middle there are two jumper pins, make sure that the one that says "Eprom Enable" in jumpered."

I verified that the one that says eprom enabled is jumpered, and the one beside it also is. Still receiving the same error message.

Hmm, I did not. I just checked and the machine has 8 MB of memory. I'm assuming this isnt enough. Also, I believe that my machine is a XL Extreme, I know for sure that it is not a gold

I think prior to Gold the memory was not enough, not 100% but I can throw a couple of sticks in the mail for you and see if that helps, I think Platinum etc needs 16mb or 32mb? anyone know? just send me a PM and ill see what Ive got

"FAILURE DRIVE F,"
"BAD FILE COMMAND,"
"FILE NOT FOUND,"
Unit comes on but no game
is displayed.

• Check that the game CD is installed. (CD
must be installed with label UP.)
• Check the cable connections to CD-ROM
drive (both ends). Re-seat if necessary
• Game CD must be installed for operation.
• If CD-ROM drive cables are not
completely connected, CD-ROM will not
operate.
• Run the "Motherboard Tests," using the
diagnostics software, to make sure the
motherboard is working properly.
