hi guys glad to be apart of the site

ok need some help , ive got three mega touch machiene . 1 works, 1 loads alll the way up and say key invalid and the other 1 says insert boot disk.
The i/o board that comes up with key invalid i put in the working machiene and it still says invalid key so im 100% sure i/o board fault . and i know my disk and security key works. in the working machiene.

The i/o board that says boot disk fail does not work , so i want to use parts from that on the other i/o board that has key invalid .but where do i start ???? ive checked both boards can not see any visable fault . im pretty good with a sodaring iron , so if any1 could help where to start that would be good .

Look at the #s on the sticker for the key. It must match the software you are trying to run. If it DOES match, then clean the I/O board's edge connector with a pink pencil eraser, then clean the key and socket (or pins and socket if the key is an old square one)

I had the same problem with mine, but it was just years of tar and nicotine.

hi. thanks for your help. but ive cleaned the i/o board top to bottem left to right. all the pin contacts are clean and making a connection 100%
ive got 3 gold xl cds with individual security keys they all work in the working machine. but the second machine gives me an invalid key sign. even if i take out the working i/o board from the working machine and put in the i/o board that gives me invalid key i still get invalid key message. so is it a problem with the i/o board?

ive got other cds and keys that work in the working machine but will not work in the second machine.

Make sure the jumpers and dip switches are set like the working board. Beyond that, all you can do is to pull and reseat the PLCC socketed chips to help wipe the contacts. After that, replace the board.

Are you running these strictly with a CD drive ?

Have you checked your jumper settings as recommended earlier ?

Just from what I can see in your pics your jumpers are set different from mine.
Most notably JP1 and JP2, which are side by side.
Both of those are OPEN on mine, meaning the jumper is only sitting on one pin, not connecting the two pins.
Now granted mine is running a hardrive......but might be a shot try to move a jumper over.
