I have a couple sets of Megatouch XL boards and I can't seem to get them to reliably boot. Sometimes they lock up at "789" other times they say that command.com is missing, and if I'm lucky they sometime actually boot. What I am I looking at here?

I would probably say a failing hard drive, assuming that is what it is booting from.

I would agree. I am not up on all the MT versions but all I have ever seen boot Linux. When I think command.com I think old school DOS, or Win 9x that ran on a DOS layer. Missing command.com sounds like a generic error out of the BIOS of the board when it cannot find a bootable OS. Given the prevalance of DOS and Windoes at the time the BIOS writer probably put in what they could, assuming a DOS based system, to give the user something upon error. In other words, no bootable OS (IE bad drive) then the BIOS dumps a error that would have some meaning in 99% of the cases at the time.

The XL boots dos from an eprom on the I/O board. I think it might be U12.
you could either try reseating the eprom or testing the others using an I/O
board from one that will boot.
