How are the touchscreens done with the Merit Megatouch games? Does it use a standard monitor and have another component attached that is the touch portion? Thanks..

Yep. The touchscreen is stuck on to the front of the tube. It's almost impossible to separate the two, the touchscreen is made of a thin glass.

This applies to older CRT models. I know nothing of the LCD models.

On all CRT monitor Megatouch games, the touchscreen glass is glued to the front of the picture tube. There is a cable running from the touchscreen glass itself to a Touchscreen Controller Unit in the cabinet. Then the signals from the Touchscreen Controller Unit go to the game board.

Actually, the touch screen is taped close to the face of the tube. It can be tested by the diagnostic screens in the test menu to see if there is a problem. The controler is very reliable and is seperate of the actual touch screen itself. The screen can be damaged by scratches in the glass itself and most likely need to be replaced if one is found. Dirt on the screen can also affect the control of the touch and should be cleaned. Good luck....

So when these monitors go POOF..

Do you order new touchscreen-enabled monitors from Megatouch or do you try to swap the monitor with a "normal" one and take the touchscreen sensor off the old one to apply to the new one?
