Megatouch Maxx "key range mismatch" How to resolve?

I have a Megatouch Maxx Ruby 2 edition and after it is powered up and goes through all the checks and gets to the loading screen, it says "key range mismatch" Anyone know how I can fix this?

Thanks,

David

I think this is the battery looking thing (key) and the main difference from what I have seen is there is a plastic handle thing attached to it. I seen this at the End of Line arcade and could not believe this was not a battery. If that handled battery is missing or wrong, that game will never boot up.

I don't really know much more than that but I would ask Pinball Wizard about it.

Went through the same issue a couple of months ago. Either the wrong security key is installed or it's missing.

yepper,

That key looks just like a CR2032 battery (the kind for the cmos in many computers) but with a plastic spoon handle attached to it.

If you replace any batteries for that lately save the old one, it is probably not a battery.

Key errors are not always because the key is wrong. I've had units that just sat a really long time, with matching keys and drives, power them up and they say this same error. It's the crappy elbow board that plugs into the PCI that makes poor connection after awhile. Carefully take your mobo off, give your slots and elbow a real good cleaning. If you can find the slack on the wiring, plug the PCI card directly in without the elbow. If it is in fact a matching key/drive I will bet it will start up. Good luck.
