I've got a countertop Megatouch Maxx Jade 2 and once in a while, either while playing or in attract mode, the game goes blank and starts beeping. Sometimes it will error out on startup as well. Other days it will work all day long without issue. I think I've got it narrowed down to the back plane board connection, but can't seem to find any real issues. I've used an eraser on the board contacts and I don't see any bad solder joints. When the game is going to boot and work fine, I get a hissing sound during boot. I've replaced the fan on the cpu, tried a new power supply and checked all connections. The beep isn't in a pattern like a POST code... just a constant beep, 2/ second. Didn't see anything in any of the megatouch troubleshooting...

I've worked on a bartop unit before... it was SO filthy inside from cigarette tar and dust that the only way I could get it stable was to take all batteries out and scrubbing the hell out of the boards to clean the slots, memory sockets, and everything else. I cleaned the memory SIMMs, I/O card, and everything.

Once it was all dry I cleaned the edge connectors with an eraser then reassembled everything. The problem went away and never resurfaced.

Thanks... This machine was definitely in a smokey place for a lot of years. I guess I'll pull it apart again and give the boards a good cleaning and see if that works.
