My Megatouch Maxx 2K won't boot up anymore. I get a single beep upon powerup followed by 4 sequential beeps several seconds later. Does anyone know what that means? There is nothing on the screen but the monitor does come up. The +5V and +12V are ok. I don't know what other if any voltages need to be checked. I tried reseating everything including the RAM on the main part of the board. Who works on Megatouch boards? Any help would be appreciated.

After further nosing around, it looks as though the CPU fan is not working. I may have a failed CPU as well. Is there anyway to know that on these things without replacing it? Is that what the beeping means? I checked the troubleshooting section of Merit's site but that is not working either.

Does it spin freely? If not, it is bad... if it does then you probably don't have voltage to it. In that case, check the power supply voltage levels as you may be missing some.

if the fan is shot... like in any computer it will shut down and not allow a full boot due to extreme heat may damage the cpu
the cheap route would be to find a replacement fan out of an old computer and plug it in and see if it will boot... then go from there

I would think the beeping is what's telling you the problem. Like a computer each beep sound tells a specific thing. I would look into what them beeping noise represents. Can't remember off hand what they mean on a computer but you can google it and find the answer.

Hope this helps

If the fan is not running, chances are the motherboard needs servicing. Send that to David at the megatouch store. He does great work and I would highly recommend him. I had issues with my maxx and he took care of it. I won't go anywhere else when I need parts for my megatouch.

If you need his contact information, I think I have it around here somewhere.........drop me a PM if you need it.....

The beeping is dependent on the BIOS chip manufacturer. They each have different codes.
