Hello,

I have recently procured a bar-top Megatouch Force Radion 2005. When I power on the machine, the dollar bill unit and monitor always power on correctly (The monitor will show a test pattern if I disconnect the vga connector from the mother board, and the dollar bill unit makes a couple mechanical sounds and the green arrow lights flash).

I understand the motherboard is powered by a separate PC-type power supply. Sometimes when I flip the power switch, the motherboard lights and cpu fan start up for less than a second, then turn off. When I flip the power switch off, the lights will sometimes blink again and the fan will spin once or twice (I think that probably occurs because some capacitors are discharging).

Sometimes, the motherboard does power up and the Fusion BIOS screen comes up and it freezes there. I have tried connecting a PS2 keyboard to the purple connector to reset the bios settings, but the keyboard does not seem to be receiving any power (num lock/caps lock lights do not turn on). Fusion BIOS screen sometimes turns off and the screen goes black, sometimes I see the next BIOS screen listing all the IRQs and devices connected etc. , then it freezes. Sometimes the motherboard will just power down by itself during this boot process (Fan/lights turn off).

I have replaced the motherboard once and basically the same options persist. None of the capacitors on the current motherboard are bulging (the old board also did not have bulging capacitors). Very rarely, the game will fully boot into the games and everythings seems to fully function (sound, touchscreen work). However, if the game is left on for an extended period of time, the motherboard turns off.

The same issues persist if I disconnect all the IDE connectors from the motherboard, if I connect a different hard drive, if I change dip switches, or if I hold down the two buttons on the Merit USB i/o board to attempt to reset all system settings.

Basically, the motherboard rarely turns on, and if it does, it rarely boots beyond the first couple BIOS screens.

Could it be the motherboard Power supply? Any thoughts or troubleshooting hints would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

the games power supply is probably bad as they are prone to fail. You may also check the battery on the mother board to see if it is 3.0vdc or higher to retain the bios settings. The power supply is fairly cheap and if its the original then its time to replace it IMO. It has just the AC input plug and the large molex connector for the output. Good luck...

Why is there a Fusion bios logo? Only logo i have seen on force units is FORCE logo.

Also did you figure out what the problem was. You could use a standard pc power supply to see if thats the problem before buying the one that fits although if its old your probably better off replacing it anyway.

If its not the power supply its probably the capacitors. They are known to go on these force boards. Look to see if the tops of them are bulging and leaking underneath.

I must be going blind.Somehow i missed you mention there not bulging..lol

Power supply wiring?

Hello again,

First, thank you to cbuschief and 2FourFlinching for your input.

So, I took 2FourFlinching's advice and wired a standard PC power supply to my Megatouch Force Fusion, and I was able to fully power up the unit, install 2005.5 from CD and play games without a hitch. The unit turns on completely every time.

Here is the issue.

The Megatouch only works this way when I plug the PC power supply directly into the motherboard. I have to actually bypass the wiring harness that is inside the machine (needed because the Megatouch power supply just has one plug and the wire is extremely short). If I plug the standard PC power supply into the internal wiring harness, the motherboard does not power on at all (red light sometimes turns on on the motherboard/ fan spins once, but otherwise, no real response). On the other hand, if I unplug all the power connectors on the machine and attach them all directly to my PC power supply, everything runs perfectly.

Does this mean I have a faulty wiring harness, or is perhaps the pin out on the Megatouch power supply slightly different, as to enable the power-on feature of the motherboard.

I do have the small wiring connector attached on the motherboard that enables the power on feature (as mentioned in a Merit service bulletin).

I have ordered an exact replacement, new power supply for my machine, so hopefully this resolves my issues.

Thank you for any input regarding this.

Hey I have a question... Can those cd's be use on another game? I can't find mine and now it freezes up only on the main menu and when you need to pick a game( but unfreeze's after 10-20 sec ) once a game is started it plays perfect all game long.....mine is also a 2005.5. I know they had this issue and had a update ... Could you see what software your is? If they can I would be willing to throw you some money so I could reload mine if indeed its a newer version and send back... ( will let you hold a nice deposit untill i return them)... Please let me kno.... We like to play it all the time... Thanks
