Megatouch 6 - Free Play option?

I have a megatouch 6. The best thing you can do is to go into the service mode and add a bunch of credits for people to use. Or i guess wire up some switch.

Exactly what he said. The game will store up to 99 credits, and wont lose them when you turn it off. Otherwise just add a credit button like I did. There is no freeplay option.

I just thought of something, I have a "plate" from my Mario Bros. coin door with a hole in it for a button, basically its meant to take the place of the coin mech. If you have a bartop, it might work, and your welcome to it if you want it.

Dude, that would be sweet! I think the coin plates are the same.

You guys ROCK!

You could mount a standard (RadioShack) pushbutton switch on the back of the unit (exposed to the outside) and basically wire it to the internal service button to take you to the menu without removing the coin box.

You could also mount a pinball switch on the coin mech so that it credits when you hit the coin return. This is tricky, but I've seen a few very compelling ways to pull this off.

Here's one way:

Another great idea from the same thread:

The idea I'm referring to, works with hot glue, etc:

You could also hack something together with that open lock hole that's on the side of your MegaTouch. There are locks that double as switches, or you could just use that hole to mount a button and hack into the harness where the coin switch ultimately routes.

He didn't show you how to add credits?!? Tsk tsk. Pull out the coin mech, hit the setup button inside, and find the free credit button on the right. Do a little drum roll on it with 2 fingers...get it up to 99 in a few seconds :)

I showed him. Princess needs a better way, he might break a nail or something. :-/

Edit: Actually he did bring up a good point about increasing the "wife acceptance factor" and/or making it easier for guests to play. I still think it is because his nail shop charges so much for manicures.

Dude, mani/pedis are NOT cheap!!!

Yes, Todd did show me how to add credits. The I proceeded to destroy him in Run 21, but that's another thread, LOL.

Just thought that if it gets alot of use, which it may, a free play option would be easier :)

I almost spit out my coffee hahahaha. Sounds like that replacement plate is the way to go, and if not, just see if you can rig a switch to be activated with the coin return lever.

I have two of those 6's, and all I did was to put a cup with tokens beside the game. People can take a token and put one in when they play. If you do add a lot of credits, just be aware that the screen will not rotate through an attract mode or anything. After a while, I'd think some screen burn would happen.

If you need any help on that, Chris, just yell. I have a little experience with them. :)

Thanks Bill :)

I was trying to add a switch behind the coin plate that was activated by the coin return. Since that failed miserably, I will try that spare plate from welove80s and see if I can get that to work :). I do like your idea though, makes people think they are paying for the game :)

And I ran out the credits last night and discovered it's a super Megatouch IV, not a 6, but that's okay by me. Still addicted to darn Tri Towers. GRRRRR!!!

LOL

I'll have to check my parts, but I'm pretty sure I have a complete chip set with security key to upgrade that to a 5, if you want. I don't think I have any spare 6's, but almost certain I have a spare 5 upgrade.

Hmmmmmm, interesting! If you have time to look that would be great :) Is there alot of difference really? If it's only trivia questions, then I'm not really worried about it too much, but if there's other stuff it may be worthwhile.

I know you're busy with moving and all, so whenever ;)

That was a 4?!?! Really?? I swore that board was a 6! Crap...imma check my dead boards and see if they have the 6 roms on them. Damn...

No worries man. If I did not run out of credits, I'd never have know, LOL.

I am really enjoying it. 4, 6, no big deal :D For the cost I'm not disappointed.

I know the 5's added a couple new games, but not sure which ones. Hopefully I can also find the countertop marquee I had so I can answer that better! Lol!
