Mega Man: The Arcade Game

Looks good! I wonder how it feels playing that game with joystick and buttons. There a BUNCH of timed jumps and firing in that game. I imagine it would be a pretty big adjustment.

Easier. I used played MM 1 & 2 with the Nes advantage and it was much better.

It's actually a lot of fun to play in an arcade format....unlike the Legend of Zelda. Haha.

MM would have been a good arcade title, only thing that would be tricky about it would be that you need to figure out the levels in a certain order....unlike the arcade games with are more linear.

Thanks guys!

Your Mega Man looks great Wyo! :)

Hey Buddy, I didn't know you are on KLOV. Welcome, and thanks for your ideas and inspiration on this project!

I actually switched the t molding on this game to silver chrome since I posted this thread....I wanted to break up all that blue. Looks pretty good. :)

nice work.. I like the colors.

I would think the Mega Man games would play better with a stick.

The D pad was pretty brutal on the thumb for games like that especially if you played for hours at a time.

@Wyo Im just glad I could help. And its really cool seeing something you helped with get so much praise :) I cant wait to see Ducktales! :)

KLOV rep added, thanks buddy! And about DT, me too. I've had the color for about two months now but have been slammed at work....so no time. But when things slow down in the fall....can't wait to make the CPO with gold chrome coins all over it!

Thanks guys. The one skill I absolutely suck at (i.e. have no passion for)is the programming part....anybody know if I can use a raspberry Pi with a CRT TV? This winter I'm gonna do all the electronics for these builds and my default is just to use an NES because it's easy, and I can use a easily available CRT TV. IN keeping with the old school look, I don't want to use an LCD.

Heh, I'd trade some of my technical abilities for your craftsmanship my man. Your builds look amazing!

Regarding your CRT question, yup. I have a Pi via GBS-8100 board I've finally gotten around to making work with a WG monitor (you can find them on eBay, and Amazon I believe). 240p@15hz is rather doable, but a mild PITA.

If you'd prefer to avoid the DIY route, but still roll Pi to CRT check out highscoresaves.com's ArPiCade. Will be picking one of those up in a few weeks for a reproduction cab project. Looks like a great way to plug-and-play, but optionally tinker for us more computing inclined folks.

Thanks man for the info!....but I was thinking more along the lines of a CRT TV.....like with a composite connection....since old 19 TVs seem to be a lot easier to find than CRT arcade monitors.

This project is officially finished.

Spent the last few weekends getting it all wired up.

19 CRT TV, NES with Mega Man multicart (has 32 Mega Man, Rockman Games, homebrews on it). Everything powers up with a single switch on back. External reset button under the speaker panel returns the screen back to the main menu. NES is completely hidden.

This game, along with Legend of Zelda and Duck Tales will be on display for the first time at the Game On Expo in the Phoenix, AZ convention center August 12-14th of this year. :D
