Is there any type of adapter to convert a game that uses a medium res monitor into a standard res monitor or TV, or PC monitor?

I have the RGB to CGA TV convert from Y-Plus and it doesnt seem to do the job. There is another adapter on that website that converts to PC monitor but I dont know if it will work with a medium res signal?

www.arcademvs.com is the site im talking about....

Med res is also referred to as EGA, I only see one adaptor on there and it converts to VGA which is an older computer resolution that most modern computers can sync to as well.

Sometimes med res games have a switch that allows you to play it in med or standard resolution. What game is it?

CGA (standard res) and EGA (medium res) were also used on PC monitors, but not usually found after the 80386 Era of PC's....

SF Rush Alcatraz Edition. The dips only seem to have a rom test, but no switching from stand to med or vice versa. Klov shows it runs on a standard res monitor but unless my board is damaged I dint think so.

I have a Virtua Fighter 2 that uses a medium resolution monitor, not working. What other monitor can I use to test the game? I have an Apple II monitor, will that work?

Also how do you test PCB's when you dont know what game it is to get a picture?

KLOV is constantly incorrect about what resolution games run in for some reason.

EGA 24-25khz I have one of those adapters from y-plus. They don't work very well. Have a hard time holding picture, looks washed out, sometimes hard to fit the picture on the screen with games like Champ/Super Sprint.

Old medium res CRT monitors are getting really hard to repair(hard to get parts).

I love Atari System II games they all take medium res monitors! My best solution so far is to purchase new lcd multi scan monitor. I still run CRT medium res monitors(the ones that work) but the new lcd monitors rock.

My lcd monitor is used to test all my games its very light, easy to use, menu shows what your resolution is at. My Wells-Gardner 19" LCD has taken any signal I throw at it, not mention the picture is always clear and bright(plus auto fits picture to screen).

Good Luck...Wiz

Send a link to which LCD you are talking about please. :)

I purchased mine at a local arcade shop for about $430.00CND it's a WFG1990-SDLS67G but I can't find anything on the web about it. Prior to purchasing I phoned Wells-Gardner to confirm this model would scan 24-25khz. They were aware of the model and suggested another WFG1979-SSDS38H that would also scan med.res.

www.wellsgardner.com

Their web site only shows the 9000 series. The only models shown scanning EGA signal are 26,32,42" I'm sure if you phoned them they could direct you to a dealer with the right models or maybe you can order directly from WG???

EGA = Medium Resolution = 25khz
