Medieval Madness remake

You may want to go over to rec.games.pinball and do a search. That game has allegedly been remade for 3 years now. So far nothing has come of it. And I believe most of the people that pre-paid for it are SOL.

The guy that owns the rights to Bally/Williams is supposed to be a douche...but I have not had any dealings with him,so I cannot verify this.

I'm not a pinhead so if it's old news I didn;t find anything on this site about it.

Anyway back on topic - what commands the price tag for this?

Yeah- that game has been in 'development hell' for years and years.

All you have to do is play MM, and you will want one. They didn't make very many, so it's basically supply and demand. It's every pin collector's dream to own one (not necessarily at the insane prices they sell for though)

I'm not a pin guy but that is one of the better pins I've ever played. It's just a damn good game. That's why it still commands a good amount of money.

It's a very fun game, but it is disproportionately expensive. Also, the shots are very easy to make on that game. I've never owned one, but I can absolutely dominate it every time I play it.

My Whodunnit is substantially more rare than Medieval Madness. Rarity has nothing to do with it.

Also, that remake is one giant farce. Wayne hasn't produced a single machine, but he's taken plenty of money for "preorders". DO NOT buy into their claims.

I disagree, but I am in the minority. I have played it many times and I don't find the appeal. Easy shots, annoying voice overs, horrendously long ball times - personally I think so many people like it because it reminds them of their D&D days. Either that or they want it because it is so easy that it makes them feel like a man...

Supply and Demand, pure and simple.

There is a limited supply and there is a demand for it that exceeds the supply, therefore the prices are high on the MM.

There are many pins that have a smaller supply, but there is not a demand for those pins, so the prices are lower.

Then there is the Addams Family, the most produced pin ever, and the prices for that pin are still relatively high, Why? Same as before, there is more demand for that pin than there is supply, so the price goes up.

It is the same reason that more people collect old Chevys or Fords than collect Edsels, there are more Chevys and Fords than Edsels, but there is no demand for Edsels.

Now, Why is there a demand for the MM pinball machine? I have found that it is a pretty well ballanced machine with a variety of shots and modes. I just happen to like the Monty Python like humor, so the pin works for me. I agree that a lot of the shots are relatively easy, but for us non-pin-pros that helps make the game more enjoyable. I have always walked away from that game thinking, "Gee, that was fun", which I can't say for a lot of pins that I have played. On the other hand, I have played Twilight Zone many times and I could take it or leave it. I just can't seem to get into the game. So it is a lot of personal preference, and it seems that the theme of MM is liked by a lot of people, so the demand is there for the MM.

Flame suit on :)

Whodunnit was 1-2 rule additions and 1 more good toy from being a top tier game. In a way that is good, because I can afford to own such a nice game.

Maybe someday a home rom will be developed that adds a wizard mode.

I've played the machine enough times that I can have an unbiased opinion. I love the theme, I love the comedy, I love the light show, and I enjoy the flow of the game. Easy? Maybe easier than some, but that certainly doesn't make it any less fun to play. I would adjust the angle and outlanes of the route machine if it were mine to make it play a little tougher/faster then it would be perfect.

I don't have any connection to the theme I just think it's a fun game to play.

We have one locally here in a restaurant in Blacksburg that I go out of my way to play. Right next door there is a T:2. Both in great shape. I know I'm lucky.

I found it weird that if you click on the pre order form, its asks for all this info, including credit card info, but the page isnt secure, and the form is a simple word pad form. I would never send CC info like that. Just asking for trouble. I guess you mail it in?

Anything over priced like MM just sucks, insane cash for just a game, not a fun pinball- I played it. You could outfit your entire gameroom for the cost of one MM

Here's the short version. When Bally/Williams got out of pinball, they sold the rights and remaining inventory to 2 guys - Gene Cunningham (Illinois Pinball) and Wayne Gillard (Pinball Factory, Australia). How this was split up, I don't f'ing know. Gene also bought all the Capcom pinball IP and parts. Both of them make repro stuff, but I guess Wayne has the rights to remake full machines. He announced he was gonna remake Medieval Madness and Cactus Canyon. Gene announced he was going to remake Capcom's Big Bang Bar (which only had about 13 prototypes in existence). Gene actually did it, and made about 200 BBB's. Wayne hasn't made shit. He doesn't inspire confidence, as he's a total asshole on pinball forums, and doesn't actually show any proof that he's capable of making a full machine (let alone the 1000 he claims he's going to make). You'd think in a niche collector business like pinball you'd at least try to be nice to your possible clientele. If you feel like going thru the RGP archives, you can see what a douchebag he is.

I'm in the camp who thinks he'll never repro a full machine. Even if he did...who knows what the quality would be like!? Not worth taking a chance on. MM's are out there...if you want one, you can get one. Pricey, but they're out there.

MM is a great friggin game. Beats the shit out of High Speed all day long Steelhorse haha.

I do agree it's about 4-5000 overpriced though :p

I'll have to stick to playing it at Pinball shows and on the Wii Pinball Hall of fame game :)
