While waiting for some parts on my Space Invaders, I decided to see if I could clean up the game some. Started off with a Magic Eraser, and then moved to Mean Green & Scotch Pad. Tested a small area to see of the colors would bleed and everything went okay. Is that nicotine or some other "junk" on the game?

Pretty easy to clean. I just applied the Mean Green and waited a little bit and scrubbed. Took about three applications to get it white again. I saw this technique on a "This Old Pinball" video and thought it would work for this. It must be tar on the game, which is rather nasty.

Mean Green works great on Nicotine! Usually just wipes right off, no scrubbing.

I like to use Mean Green with 0000 steel wool. The 00 and 000 versions are too rough in my opinion, but 0000 is awesome and doesn't take off the gloss on the sideart.

I tend to use "Purple Stuff". (cheap version of Castrol Super Clean)
Suppose to dilute it ,but I use it straight. Wear gloves.

This cocktail had been abused....nicotine, mold, other nasty damp storage rot effects all over.
Note the BLACK sides on the control panel area.
Scrubbed it down, buffed it a bit with light baby oil by hand (can use something like Pledge I guess) tada.

I love the wood grain look on this cocktail. I restored a Galaxian CT that looked almost like this, and although I hate the room that a CT takes up, I hated to see it go. I think those early CTs just look the best.
