The event was really neat, I'm glad I attended after all.

The guy wearing the costume was simply a fan, he had no connection with Disney or the theatre. He did a great job on the suit, and told me he'd used countless photos of the original Tron suit from off of the web when creating his. He said that he'd also used reflective tape in the design of the suit so, if a picture was taken of the suit using a flash, it would actually reflect light and make it look more like the ones that were seen in the original film.

An actual rep from Disney was there, along with 4 or 5 security people, brought in specifically for this event. Everyone was checked with security wands before entering the theatre, and our phones were taken if we did not opt to run them out to our cars.

The folks I stood in line with were really nice, and one of them (I believe his name was Chris, shown wearing a hat in the photos that I took) was talking about how he used to play an EDOT at the White Marsh mall arcade. He said he had the high score on it for about 3 or 4 months (sadly, he couldn't remember what initials he might have used on the game back then). He said the name of the arcade at that time was either Tilts or Flippers/Flips or something like that? I asked because I knew that one of our crew here from the White Marsh area will probably remember it. They were surprised to hear that I had an actual TRON machine back at the house.

Feature:

I forgot to bring a pen, but what they did was show about 5 or 6 scenes from the movie, and before the scene started the screen would display "scene X: Sam does X"- it was a lot like watching the deleted scenes section of a DVD. The sound was incredible, as was the video. As I told Bungy, seeing the arcade on the big screen rocked. There were some other neat 80s details in the arcade scene, but I don't want to post them unless requested since they could be construed as spoilers. PM me if you want to know them.

Thanks to Bungy for helping me to get the pics uploaded that I was taking during the event.

Here is one more pic that I took at the end of the event. These are the promo cards they gave out. The one on the left is the band that did the soundtrack for the movie.

The one on the right I believe is the same thing as the actual wall poster that they gave out. I have the poster but it's still rolled up in my Jeep.

I hope that this info was enjoyable for those who couldn't make the event.

Whitemarsh is a decent theater..but what drives me crazy are the totally wasted ClayPaky GoldenScan3 lights they have in the ceiling of the lobby and never use properly..if at all. Tragic....

Meh- remind me never to go in Home Depot with you. LOL.

Your poster is different from the ones they were giving out in Indianapolis! This is what we ended up with:
