I notice arcadeshop has what looks to be a new style MCR switcher.. but upon closer view it looks like a knockoff of the Tom Wisnionski one with ability for a different supply added.

Does anyone know if Tom just let AS take the idea and run with it, and is not making anymore of his version, or is it a blatant knockoff? Also wondering if anyone has bought this version and if it has the same humm issue as the original? Can't see how it would be any different..

I have one in my Tron. It hums during the attract screen but not during game play. There were a few remarks about buying a better PS or adding a resistor to the 12V line. Haven't tried either of those yet.

Do you have the old version though, or the new one like is advertised on the site right now? I have 3 of the old ones and I atually didn't get any hum... but not sure I want to keep pressing my luck and get another as PS seems to be working ok.

i have the old one, which i prefer due to not having the board hanging off the switcher. but it basically looks the same to me except for the switcher connection and the axial cap vs. radil on the other one.
