Before I purchased my Satan's Hollow someone had removed the original power supply and wired in a switcher.

I had purchased a cordless phone battery a while back to swap out on this and finally broke it open tonight when I remembered that the battery originally resided on the original power supply board.

Is there any way I can still get this to save scores?

can you post pics of the wiring and how hacked it is? i would personally say your best bet is unhacking the harness and buying the mcr switcher adapter. or rebuilding the linear power supply, if it's still in the cabinet...

I was afraid that getting a linear back in there may be the only option. Surely there's a way to do without it and get a battery back in there some how?

well, first, nice satan;s hollow. from the back, anyway!

second, wow. wtf! what i would do is put the harnesses back together as they were, with the original molex connectors. you can get the correct socket connectors and pins from bob roberts, as part of the 90412 power supply rebuild kit. i don't know if he sells them separately. then, i'd say buy the switcher adapter and put that in.

I had a whole restoration thread with a ton of pictures here if you want to check it out.

I guess I'll look into getting the linear back in there and then a proper switcher adapter.
From what it looks like in that thread the NVRAM is hit or miss, but I guess it's worth exploring perhaps?

I know a lot of people have used it successfully, but I don't have any personal experience. I have a Tron and a Spy Hunter, both with original linear supplies and cordless phone batteries to save the scores.
