So before I invest myself in Bob Roberts kit for the MCR interconnects on my Tron, what other solutions are there? Essentially, if it comes down to it, I will buy his kit, but if there is a different solution that doesn't involve crimping 240 ends, I'm all ears.

He sells them pre-made so no crimping for $15 and that other kit if you want to make em yourself.

Use a SCSI cable. They work perfectly fine assuming you have right-angle headers. Details in this thread. Note my photo at the top was a Kick before replacing the vertical header with a right-angle header.

i recently just ordered 20 samtec cables, came to a little under $6 cable.

yes, pricey, but imho the quality is well worth it.

Full disclosure on the Samtec ones...I removed one on my Journey boardset last weekend and the top bar that crimps it down to the connector actually broke off. I didn't really pull on it that hard, but it did pop of and break in half, rendering it useless. It still wouldn't stop me from buying them if I needed them because they are much more slender and easier to use that the BR SCSI ones. The SCSIs are bulky and you have to cut them to fit some boardsets, have 2 rows instead of one (and it's counterintuitive as to how to line them up), and 1 extra set of holes (another area where you can possibly mess things up).
