I know these MCR games have a tendancy to hum, and my Kickman is not an exception. I have rebuilt the Power Supply, everything works fine. A few issues I need some help with

1. The hum, it is loud, and only when the game is not playing, once you coin it up and hit the p1 or p2 button and during gameplay it all but disappears, or I can unplug the audio amp and it goes away. I think everything is grounded properly. Thus leading me to think I need to either a. replace somthing on the amp (what typically would be wrong with these?) or new big caps from Bob Roberts?? what do you all think

2. This Kickman has no marquee light, no fixture nor any mounting holes or signs that there ever was one present. Any Kickman owners want to shoot a photo of this for me?

thanks in advance....

I haven't gotten around to addressing the hum in mine yet, but if you still need a photo in a few days (once I'm home), shoot me a message and I'd be glad to do that for you.

On the Spy Hunter I purchased there were a couple of things causing the hum:

The ground straps were loose and or corroded.
The marquee light ballast, etc was causing part of the problem, it needed a good tap
I recapped the cheap squeak and reseated the socketed chips

Now it sounds great. I'm still going to replace the 2 big cap on the PS.

Connections, caps and the 12v are the leading causes of hum in MCR games. Check to see if the 12v is too high. Double check all the connections in the sound circuit. Including the fuse holders.

All Kick, Kick mans I have ever seen have a marquee light. It is the same as a typical midway marquee light fixture. Tron, Ms. Pac, Tapper, Burgertime, all the same as Kick.

Check everything listed as it's good information. To add, I had a MCR game hum with the original power supply and a cheap switcher... I ended up putting a MCR P/S adapter and a quality switcher in it and the hum went down to barely audible.

Sometimes you need a little black magic to get that hum to go away. :) Good luck. :beerchug:
